I have been outside for most of the afternoon using my snow blower. Luckily I got most of it out the way before it got to -20c tonight. The forecast for the next few days looks miserable. High of -23c on Tuesday

The week is calling for highs of -2 to -3 and lows between -4 and -7 with snow through the week with Wed Sunny, but who knows they change the forecast every hour it seems.

Street is backed up now and a parking lot, a bus up the rode either got in an accident or slid and is blocking the lanes, buses here can't really handle snow well.

Transit isn't going so well, its snowing pretty hard, worst snowfall of the winter so far.

Highway 1 is closed between Chilliwack and Hope.

The major bridges are also a mess.

When snow hits this region can't handle it, but then its not frequent enough to justify spending money on equipment and crews for a couple days of the year.

As usual if you don't need to go out, stay home as they always say.

Saturday night saw freezing rain and then hours of ice pellets, more freezing rain, a few more hours of ice pellets, heavy snow and more ice pellets.

I watched a car go up the street Sunday with zero difficulty but it left no tracks because the snow/pellets/ice was solid. Another car pulled onto the parking lot of a nearby apartment building and its wheels span, but a couple reverses and another attempt and it was okay.

The buses were running; that's how SD got to work. Vital service is retail. :lol:

-5 had to turn the heat on for the first time in almost 2 years. Windows are closed but near the windows you can feel the cold draft.

The dog isn't too keen on the cold, she more or less refused to walk outside today.

When it warms up in Vancouver there will be an army of snowmen appear as if by magic; kids there don't often get the chance. In Regina it's cold, but not as cold as Edmonton. I've plugged the van in.

I cant even comprehend that....never seen anything close to that. Would be great though.....the snowmobile would get lots of use, Ive spent a lot of money and its got zero use so far! pathetic winter this end of Canada.... :(

I string wires for the snowmobilers. I haven't decapitated one yet but I live in hope.

It's quite icy here. We had no power for 48 hours, not a record but unusually long.

That would just utterly terrify me, I almost had a panic attack just watching that guy snowed in inside his house! I don't know how you all do it.

Years ago I went down to the Spokane area to go carp fishing with an Englishman I met on a fishing forum, and he told me about their first winter. He'd purchased a parcel of forested land (it's mountains and trees where he is) and was living in something like a 20' travel trailer. After going and collecting his wife from the airport they went to their idyllic woodland paradise. That night there was a terrible storm, and the blowing snow obscured.... ok, I'm just adding stuff now. What happened was overnight the ice plastered the trailer and they were stuck inside until he could pry away at the door with a screwdriver and break enough ice to open the door, and he said she went ballistic on him, screaming what the hell sort of place have you brought me to, etc. I guess it got better.

OMG! Puffpuffpuff (that's me on the verge of another panic attack) All of a sudden living in a hot country doesn't seem so bad. All credit to your fishing mate and his wife for sticking it out!

They bring noise and pollution. They irritate the animals. If the operators want to buy their own fields, fair enough but they can get off a my land. Same goes for the four wheelers in the summer.
