I have been forced to haul my domestic swill in from the garage. I know what happens to it below -15.

The darlings at Sears have just informed me that my snowblower (due for delivery yesterday) has arrived at the distribution warehouse.

Which is in Calgary..........

I had to scrape a bit of frost off my windscreen a week or so ago.

The horror!!!

It snowed 30cms here back in Jan 2015 - the largest snow event in 80 years!!

I can deal with the cold, but I cannot deal with more than 10cm of snow in a 24hr period.

Not 70cm in one go!

I meant the total so far (although we've had 10+ four times already this year).

I think the 50cm we had in one dump last February was the local record.

I still remember the winter of 2007/8. We had 444cm and it didn't melt.

Your welcome! You still looked a bit chilly- I was looking for some fluffy mittens but couldnt find the right coloured ones to match your outfit - I don't want you getting frostbite

All those people who go on about how great the sunshine is in minus degree weather are talking bollox. It's sunny and very cold here and its horrible. Bring back the grey and damp 10c.

Today the weather is bad enough that the snowploughs have been cancelled. The OPP have closed all the roads in the county but that's really just a liability thing; people, us included, still have to get where they're going.

This thread may scare off some of the people considering emigration to Canada as they may have thought some of the cold weather stereotypes were simply exaggeration!

But is it a dry damp? That makes all the difference.

Sunny and cool. Last weekend's snow is still here. I think schools only closed Monday but 30cm of snow Sunday created a mess.

Looks like the cold snap ends Sunday, rain and warmer temps Monday.

I'll miss the snow. Lol

No but I used to live just north of Shelburne, off the 124. CR124 has permanent "Road Closed" signs that the cops turn on remotely when the weather's bad. If you live between the signs you don't know that they're on so I'd routinely go through them the wrong way and then have no choice but to go back through them on the flashing light side.

That is the same storm as here though and the same wave of road closures. It was like February out there today, very little forward visibility and, every now and then, the need to steer around a stuck griege or white SUV. In these circumstances those daytime running lights are really dangerous, I wish they'd ban them.

Obligatory pictures of car in snow drift. I drove up the driveway as far as it would go then went back and tugged it the rest of the way with the tractor. The February Parking Procedure.

Assuming that's a rear-wheel drive Mustang, that would be one reason why you get stuck in the snow :)

Is your fence working?

Owning a rear-drive car it's perfectly possible to get around during the winter. Three years living at a ski resort taught me that.
