Jackson Triggs Rosé...about $10...goes very nicely with a prawns and scallops meal I make. It's a nice change from Red and White and the only decent Canadian wine I've found that wasn't an Ice Wine.
Anything on the Rosemount Diamond labels...Chardonnays about $14 and Shiraz between $17 and $20. Hardys Stamp is usually reliable for a cheapie at $11 to $14. Oxford Landing was a favourite back in England. I've not seen it here but it must be around. Everything else I used to drink over there seems to be.:) |

At one time the poster boy for drinkable Canadian wine at an affordable price, now a little suspect - because how much Canaidan juice is actually in them? |

I agree the VQA is decent - especially given the price. One thing JT did was to wean Canadians away from the 2liter bottles of sugary grape juice that they were drinking and introduce them to French varietals. |
Re: wine!
Just opened a bottle of NZ Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc 2009. On sale at LCBO for 17.95. Very nice indeed.

Re: wine!
Have an open bottle of "braille wine" here. Rasteau Cotes-du-Rhone Village, M. Chapoutier, $17+ at the LCBO, label overprinted with studs. Like it a lot.

Re: wine!
Tonights NYE celebratory supper of a rather funky Morrocan lamb dish courtesy of the neighbours, was accompanied by a Las Moras Black Label Malbec. Which I can thoroughly recommend.

Re: wine!
Had some dodgy sounding pyramid-enhanced Okanagan fizz while out last night. I vaguely recall it being very easy to drink.
Have otherwise failed to find an affordable wine on a par with what I would have gone for previously. I have bookmarked this thread ;) |
Re: wine!
Toronto Star has this article which might be of interest to posters on the thread... http://www.thestar.com/living/articl...ar-s-best-buys
I don't think I've had any of these (yet :)). |
