Now what's your favourite wine miss field mouse?

I'm torn between Hirondelle, Blue Nun or Bulls Blood. Of course there's always Don Cortez white wine and Ribena as a flavoursome tipple.

I don't know anything about European footballers. Do they play for Man United or Newcastle?

I suppose it would be churlish of me to point out that fledermaus in German means "bat", not field mouse?

Siebenschlaefer =dormouse is what you're wanting.

Never had it. For a long time. Do you mean "loved lady milk"?

I'm not very good at German - never liked them since they bombed our chippy!*

I've read, but haven't tried, that Ontario does some nice Rieslings, especially Henry of Pelham.

They did actually - my mum's aunt ran a chippy in Gorton which got bombed!

If I buy wine it tends to be something Chilean or Argentinian. Never Australian. I get a nasty reaction to many wines, especially the cheaper blends and Aussie stuff that makes my face and neck bright red and itchy and hot. It's nasty. Have I said this already? Damned if I am going back to check. Anyway it's not a good thing to happen, and if out in the big wide world it's rather embarrassing.

At the risk of drastic thread drift, it turns out that my french mother-in-law's cleaning lady's father (you with me so far?) was the 2nd WW gunner who blew the steeple off the church right next to our house in Normandy on June 12th !944.

Small world, innit?

It's might be the sulfites (sulphites) in the wine. Try sulphite free wine.
