Why is the name "Gaynor" so difficult for the Canadians to understand ?????

I know, my husband has the same problem, his name is Sandy and they never get it right, one contractor kept calling him Randy, how did he know

You should see what they do with "Eamonn"! The number of blank stares or "excuse me sir" comments that generates is quite amusing!

When I was working with were corresponding with a lawyer in England called Gillian. She signed her letters "Gill" which I pronounce the same as Jill, but the Canadians thought it was gill - as in the things fish have!
