why do you post?

Re: why do you post?
It's a little addictive.
Other peoples view points are interesting (most of the time).
There are a lot of knowledgeable people on here and many questions can be answered that are not even related to emmigrating.
Cheaper than going to the pub.

If I mention at home what's going on on here - the o/h half rolls his eyes as if to say "aaaaaaaah been on that bloody forum again!"
But doesn't seem to complain when I find out things we need to know

Why? To learn, inform, be amused, help out, sympathise.... just like a "citizen" of any other community.

Re: why do you post?
After spending 5 years being nagged by OH about getting out of the uk
He dragged me there in january, then spend a few months fact finding, come across this site and never left :curse:
OH now joined as i tell him what everyone else is saying
Why do i post - because everyone else is as mad as us, everyone is going through or been through the same hassle
Parents think we are stupid/crackers/going through mid life crisis early etc etc
Only place on internet that there is such a wounderful bunch of people in one place who will help with all question
But then there is a few like bazzz who posts to annoy you stupid, but then thats what neighbours do in real life

As a retired senior it's a way of keeping the grey matter active (use it or loose it) and it sure beats watching T.V.
Also it's a way of keeping up to date on things in the UK. I'm a bit out of touch cos in 2008 I will have been in Canada for 40 years.

I think I am an addict too, but I am trying to pretend I'm not, which is why I don't post as much as I did!
Truly, much of my application and relocation experiences are now out-of-date and irrelevant, even after two years, but occasionally somebody starts a post that I can actually contribute to.
Mostly I just read, and tut a little now and then.

Re: why do you post?
I post when I am feeling helpful or emotional (outraged, excited etc). I come here for information or when I need a laugh or a some sort of perspective.
I try not to post when I feel jaded. There are long periods when I don't make an appearance just because if I do post I will write something that will upset or I will regret. There have been times when I was going to post but ultimately just decided to turn the other cheek.
I am genuinely grateful to those regulars who do provide the essential service of replying to posts from all and sundry that provide such a great resource for us lurkers. I admire their indefatigability in the face of the naive, the banal, the mischief-making and the downright rude. There are many people here who make BE a wonderful community.
