Who's going where at Christmas?

well I, thankfully, will be at home for Christmas. For a while there it looked as though I might spend it in hospital. Just got home following an emergency appendectomy - surgeon kept me in with IV antibiotics coursing through my veins for a couple extra days, as (I paraphrase a bit) "it was all a bit of a disgusting mess when we got it out, it sort of disintegrated and left some goop behind." A couple more hours and it might have burst, apparently.
Still, I'm mighty impressed by the health services. Presented at Emerg at 10am, barely even had time to sit down in the waiting room before being whisked off, prodded, poked, given a painkiller, taken for a CT scan, and consulted with the surgeon. Under the knife (well, laparoscopic instruments) by 3.45pm.

Working 7.30 to 3.30 then oncall, the same on Boxing Day. So a sober holiday for me.
Going to friends after work for a meal of ham and scalloped potatoes

ungrateful wretch that I am. (pun intended).

A friend of mine had an infected appendix that was almost at bursting point when they got it out. She hallucinated that giant peas were attacking her.

The bugger of it is that we've got some other stuff to celebrate, the dowager Clicquot's finest was chilling, and I can't bloody have a drop of it until after next weekend 'cause of the bloody antibiotics I'm taking. Still, there'll be a bit of catching up to do come Christmas Eve...
