It does taste like germoline™. I have no idea what they were thinking. .... But anyway I like it.

Barq's is the best, by far, but has caffeine, so two glasses and I can't sleep. Most other brands have no caffeine but don't taste as good.

Ah the taste of wintergreen. Used to get some kind of candy too that was wintergreen flavoured, so perhaps that's where the wintergreen thing comes from, as in the name. Anyway, have to say I do like rootbeer from A&W, along with their burgers (100% horsemeat too )

I don't like root beer but I find some of the comments quite funny from the people who created Dandelion & Burdock. Now there's a liquid that could strip chromium.

Yes, I had that 'lightbulb' moment too, I had no idea what it tasted of. It tastes like Germolene! Quite distgusting stuff, I'd never put it willingly in my gob for a second time, but I might now think about dabbing it on our knees!

This sounds like a myth to me. Irn-Bru and rum is another good concoction.

I love Root Beer, does vary by the brand though. The worst is Barqs, that stuff has a bad aftertaste that stays in your mouth. Good Root Beer should be smooth, since homemade root beer is made with Vanilla. A&W is the best, but Mug isn't bad either.

I agree that it's definitely an acquired taste. What gets me is a bunch of people complain about things being boring here, and now you're complaining about one of the things that is actually interesting and different tasting? Guess Canada can't win

To me it tastes like medicine, but then the first time I tasted that taste it was in a medicine. If Id had it as pop first I would probably like it more.


Mind you, one kid is currently on a horrible artificial "banana" flavoured antibiotic, and she loves the stuff. Its all we can do to stop her overmedicating, so you just cant account for personal taste.

The one and only time I tried it I thought it was awful and flavored with Euthymol toothpaste ! Do they still make that stuff ?

Yup, hate the stuff.

When I played footy in my younger days, we used to rub liniment on our legs on cold days to heat up a bit.

I think of that stuff every time I smell root beer, not sure whether to drink it or rub it on my legs.
