Where are all the Trolls?
 

What's happened to all the grumpy, argumentative, antagonistic ranters that used to stalk this site? When I first joined back in 2010 you had to be pretty brave to have an opinion. As soon as a stupid or controversial comment was posted you could rely on the Ultrarunners and El Dulci's of this world to make it even more controversial!

Where are they now? Who do you think has been the most antagonistic poster of all time? What was the worst thing you can remember being posted by them?

UR was/is some crazed Combat 17 type who would pick a rather badly rationalised argument with St Peter given half a chance. Great value....

Dulcius Ex Asperis? Yes, he was quite good value. UR was more annoying but less eloquent, so I think Dulcius wins.

Other wind-up merchants that spring to mind include OceanMDX - he and I didn't overlap by very long, but in much the same way as UR does now, his legend lived on for quite a while. But ISTR he was more of a tedious knob than a troll.

But the funniest troll was IMHO bazz, who made Oink look kind and gentle in comparison.

I remember being fairly convinced that they were one and the same when Oink appeared shortly after bazz left. I was wrong though, bazz was much better at it.

How can I have forgotten about Bazzz? And his oh-so-subtle alter ego following a ban, Notbazzz... That was proper trolling, there was a sharp sense of humour behind most of the barbed comments.

So many craptastic posters to pick from its hard to single out only one.

Mickj and his tens of aliases and sock puppets was a particularly annoying one that springs to mind, but we got quite good at spotting him. Long before most people heres time I suspect.

I miss Butch Cassisdy, cant remember now if he left or was banned (I suspect the latter)... and that Fledermaus, she could get really chippy... like a terrier with a rat. Whatever happened to her I wonder;)

Which reminds me, whatever happened to Notiaink...honest ? He was a bit of a plonker at times, I recall - and terrible dress-sense when it comes to footwear, of am I confusing him with someone else? :p

There was a poster on here months ago who was called "The (something) Family" I think. She ended up claiming they got PR in 3 or 4 months, having been told by everyone that they'd be unlikely to get it at all. I'm sure it was all bullsh*t but it made for lively exchanges at the time. With I could remember her posting name. I'd like to go back and read some of her posts again.

Tony the Pilot was a bit of a kn*b jockey.

UltraRunner was going through a rough patch and took it out here resulting in a ban.

Bazzz was nothing special.

No, not them - they def didn't get PR in 3 to 4 months. They took years to finally get where they wanted - I've rarely seen such patience!

I felt bad a few people who applied similar time as I did really were given a run around by CIC before having their money refunded and process cancelled.

By the way it is my 8 year anniversary in a couple of weeks.

Fur sure, UR had some, um, interesting family dynamics to work through, and some of what he posted probably reflected that. But not all, by any means: he was quite seriously rude and obnoxious on many occasions that had nothing to do with his personal situation. And he was an inveterate (and unapologetic) plagiarist, which really didn't help his cause.

Agreed on Tony the Pilot, though: knob jockey of Grand Cru quality.
