All forums develop cliques, you are a member of several that I've noticed.
99% of us CAN BE friendly and helpful (yes you do have to sort the chaff that we ALL post I agree), I agree there's a lot of smart ass remarks and 'in' humour but thats a fact of life anywhere. As for being made by a few? I would be hard pressed to find ANY poster who comes on the main forum or maple leaf who has NOT at one point or another 'resorted' to sarcasm or personal attack.
Also just MHO

I've seen threads where people (not even newbies) have tried to join conversations and have not got replies. It's not all the time, but just about often enough that I notice it (fwiw, this doesn't apply to you)
anyway - haven't we done enough navel gazing for one week? where's our BE awards? I have my speach prepared.

I have not discounted it. Perhaps I'm a little shell shocked at having taken a gamble and it not working out. To venture into another unknown seems less attractive at this time than to return to UK. I also need to provide my kids stability again. Just can't bring myself to take another gamble although whatever I do next will be one.

What sucks...some particular narrow minded individuals, people more interested in making fun of others than actually helping. You know, the usual.

Haven't read all of the replies, but the thing I find most annoying about this forum is the constant banter between the few who know each other and post a lot. It makes it really hard to sort the wheat from the chaff. I don't know what the solution is, as I know the people who do it must enjoy it, but it's REALLY boring for the rest of us
and spoils the forum. Can't you use the chat room??!

Regarding the guy that didn't get accepted - then yes for him that absolutely sucks.
But ultimately he did things wrong - his work experience didn't match his job on the NOC list and he did not indicate as to whether he had on AOE or Canadian work experience.
Again "I sympathise" but really????? he's had support from people commiserating but its like me entering the 100 meter hurdles in the olympics without any training or talent and then expecting hugs of consolation when I lose
