They actually got a lot of support from one of the UK newspapers.. yes, the Daily Mail..
<The British Union of Fascists, formed in 1932 by Oswald Mosley as a successor to his New Party. The largest British fascist party, it absorbed members from other groups and called on the support of leading figures including members of the House of Lords, Commons, many Knights of the realm, as well as, for a time, the Daily Mail newspaper.[1][2]>

The first version of BNP was formed in 1960 (no doubt in a Bierhalle). It only lasted until 1967 when it merged with the National Front (itself an offshoot of the League of Empire Loyalists).
A new version of BNP split off from the NF, in, I think 1975.
But my original point stands: at least in terms of organized parties, the UK in the title decade was a Fascist Free Zone.
Hardly surprising, I suppose, given the proximity of the decade to that little bother with the National Socialists abroad.
Edited to add: It wasn't however, and probably never will be, a Frothing Loon Free Zone.

But the narrative of police protecting the extreme right wing and kicking the shit out of their opponents continues even today.
I give you the G20 "riots" in Toronto as a local and recent example.

He explains that he got out and took a pic of the cop car. I can only assume that the cop car must have also been illigelly parked behind his vehicle hence taking a pic of it !!

That's because everything was in black and white.
