Interesting that in the UK survey (160,000 respondents) only 4% are Elite, but on the BE poll so far 30% are Elite! Maybe Canada attracts elite people.

more like a load of Brits putting in there salary in CAD instead of UK £

trying even when in Canada to get up one more jump on the class ladder..

So we could re-phrase it; canada attracts those that failed to climb the class ladder in the Uk but still willing to try from a distance....

and the BBC still willing to pull the wool over the eyes of the aspiring middle classes....

SAD but still very British

Established middle class based on when we left the UK. Technical middle class now. Oh my, our standards are slipping.

Self selecting group innit.

What makes you think that everyone has done that? It's not what I did.

"Elite" is definitely an overly flattering word to use about people who have reasonably comfortable lifestyles mind.

Talking of Elite, did anyone get to Elite in Elite?

I can't remember if I did or not. I was pretty good, but probably not that good.

I think this test is weird. It didn't ask me whether I prefer to snort cocaine or shoot up smack. Or whether I prefer to punch people, stab 'em or commit tax fraud. Why is there no question about whether my dog is a staffy or a bearded collie? All these questions are important class indicators.

Nope

Did good, but never got to Elite

screwed up and ended up slinking from dump to dump after scooping up dubious cargo with my mining scoop

Not me. I got to deadly (or whatever the one below it was called), but the jump to elite was to large and I got bored.

It's household income, not individual income. Two $80k salaries would be enough for that.

Me too - I don't feel especially "elite", but apparently I am. Seems to be distorted by Mrs P and I both having half-decent salaries, some accumulated PP and 401k balances, knowing a few exec and academic types, and owning some rental houses (the questionnaire just refers to property you own, doesn't say you have to live in it. Mix in all those answers and apparently we're "elite". :o. .... No wonder Britain is in such a mess!

Another way of looking at it:

Maybe almost all the elite people are just getting the he11 out of Britain.... no, scrub that, not "maybe", I'm pretty d@mn sure they are! That is why Britain is screwed!
