Another naughty weekend...the joys of being single, with endless no strings attached / FWB opportunities

Probably going up to Quebec City to look at even more properties.

We'll have to go and look for a replacement for the Beetle. I think there's a very good chance that when it goes in to have the rear end damage fixed they'll write it off. Something to replace a pastel blue Beetle convertible, hmm...
What interesting buildings have you seen so far?

It's equally a hairdresser's car but gutless compared to an old Beetle (101hp vs. 150 for only slightly less weight).
The Abarth version is quicker but quite expensive and not really a convertible. I wonder if lmartin999 ever got one

My stepson moved up to Chicoutimi last year because he figured his options were better there (he's a machinist). Several problems came up. He doesn't make much money, so could only rent. He has two dogs, which limits his rental potential. His apartment should probably be condemned. More importantly, although the people in the Saguenay are portrayed as friendly, they ain't unless you're from around there. Even within the Saguenay it depends on which bit you are from.
We went up there a couple of weeks ago, following my SIL's funeral, to suss out a few places to buy. Duplexes. Souvette would take the mortgage, because he has no chance of getting one, and he'd pay it from his income and the rental on the second half. We saw a few places. One, we all liked, until we got hold of an earlier inspection report. We ran away. Then he was informed by his boss that he was being shifted to a monthly contract. Game over for Chicoutimi (Shitcoutimi, as I call it).
Then things got going. The company he worked for in Quebec City will take back with open arms. He could start today. He needs somewhere to live, though.
We saw a place near Donacona (a bit west of Quebec). Biggish farmhouse on a huge plot. He went to see it on Saturday, along with his uncle, who lives nearby and basically built his own house, and his uncle's mate, who is a qualified electrician. That place fell at the first fence.
Attention has now moved to Beaupre, east of Quebec. We have our eyes on a duplex (a pair of semis, actually). It is obvious the place needs a new roof and windows. The uncle is going there tomorrow to cast a critical eye over it. The state of the bones is all we need to know and he will know. If it's up to snuff, we'll go up to see it on Saturday. You can't dick around in QC at this time of year. Decent properties move fast.
Cosmetic issues are not a problem. My BIL is adept and has time on his hands (recently cashiered from the army and his wife just died) and I am no stranger to DIY (there goes my summer vacation!).
That reply ended up being rather longer than I anticipated........

Money is always a concern. Otherwise we'd all commute in GT40s or C Types.
