I just phoned Sears credit to see if we could up the limit on our Sears card so we could pay for the flights back for the funeral on it and they said 'the computer says no'
I explained what it was for and they said maybe your husband could apply for a card - yeah right how sympathetic.
I understand where they are comming from in a way as I have only ever earnt $400 ish bi weekly since living here.
So we are going to have to dip into our savings a bit more - that's what it's there for after all. Hubby has been laughing at my 'emergency fund home' - a whole 500 pounds in the UK since we moved here, wow is it going to come in handy now.
Hubby has gone to work this morning, I am expecting him to come home during the day though as he didn't get a blink of sleep last night.

Yep this morning we were awakened by the phone. We have had some devastating news. My MIL was killed in a car accident this morning. So the panicky trying to find flights and not knowing when anything is actually happening thing has been going on today. Then of course there is the guilt of not being closer and not being able to get there sooner. Earliest flight is Wednesday, so hubby is taking that and daughter and I will follow on a few days later - unless it all happens sooner than that, then we all fly out together.
Both my hubby's boss and my boss have been fabulouus with offers of rides to the airport etc.
Probably won't be around to much in the next couple of weeks. So I'll see you all soon.

I think we are pretty much sorted - down to who is going to shovel the sidewalks and who is going to do Daughters paper round
