Don't critisize another person unless you have walked a mile in their shoes......life is a hard slog for an unfortunate many and easy for a select few. People have to live and survive within their means and if that means shopping at Wal-mart.....then so be it:thumbsup:

If you need a job and that's the only place offering then that's the place to work. Trouble is that Walmart seems to exploit this fact, and its workers. So try No Frills or Costco instead.

Its very hard to be an ethical shopper, you can only try your best, within your means etc etc.

Life was easier when all you had to do was avoid South African goods. Mind you if I had tasted how good the fruit was before I boycotted them it would have been harder.

The same people who moan about WM are probably the same people who used to write in to points of view and have a go instead of turning off the T.V. If its that bad why do you go there, get a life.

I hardly think that taking some sort of action against exploitation is tha same as getting annoyed by a few swear words on TV.

What's with this big outcry about Wal-Mart. Why such a moralistic attitude? Where is that attitude towards crimes in your country, city or province against children, the elderly, the disabled, the poor.

So their products are made in China with what we might call slave labor. They are not the only company in the US or Canada or the world, for that matter, who sell goods manufactured in Asia. Where is your moral indignation against Mattel for having manufactured and having sold tainted toys to children for the last year or so.

If people chose to work for Wal-Mart or Sam's Club it is because the jobs for their skill levels are so few and far between that to feed, clothe and shelter their family or just themselves means they must take whatever job is available.

Very nice to be the cat that sits on the fence and spouts their moral indignation while they have the financial ability to own their own homes, purchase clothing made in Europe, organic foodstuffs, the big SUV, the newest electronic toys in your homes and cars, a well paying job and all the money they brought over from the UK with the excellent exchange rate.

BTW have you checked the brands you buy in No Frills, or Zeller's or any of the supermarkets for labels that say made in China.

The only moral indignation I have is with shortsighted people who feel it is their way or no way. Let's hope none of you have to scrape by in life. You would have to eat your moral indignation and it won't taste so good even with Cadbury Chocolate from the UK.

I've been poorer in Canada than you have. I had the Salvation Army banging on my door wanting to give me stuff, especially for my child who they perceived as being in need. I never took nothing from them instead I made appropriate sacrifices; I went hungry to afford my Marlboro. I never sank so low as to go to WalMart nor, for that matter, to a food bank.

I don't buy poverty as an excuse for a second.

Totally agree, having been on the harder side of life i value these cheaper shops no matter what. I have morals.......but call me wrong if you like........my morals are with my family and bending towards our survival. Karma given :thumbsup:
