You are a selling out your morals for either convenience or to save a couple of bucks. You replied two minutes after I posted. Stop posting here for five minutes and go read the god damned articles! Then come back and justify shopping there. Things change. impecable morals are nice, putting food in your kids bellies is just as nice, maybe more so. Just to add, i was also over smug when i made my moral stand;) |

I think that is a pretty tiny percentage of walmarts clientelly overall. Take a look around the parking lot, Walmart has a pretty classless demographic, a bit like timmies. There are plenty of new upmarket cars in the lot there alongside dbds beloved spandex clad underclass. |

Just to add, i was also over smug when i made my moral stand;) Walmart is (relatively) cheap, but its not the only cheap store. If Walmart wasnt leading the charge towards offshore prodict sourcing and lower wages and hours for those still working here, then maybe more people would be earning better wages, and fewer people would be counting their pennies. |
Re: Wal Mart
The whole 'chinese tat' thing wrt Walmart amuses the crap out of me. Shop in Loblaws/Crappy Tire/Toys R Us/ Pier One/Sears/Home Depot hell just about anywhere and you'll be buying product made in China/India/SE Asia. Thats a function of globalisation and consumer preference to spending less for stuff. Walmart might be an enabler but they didn't invent global sourcing. Even MEC that paragon of ecofriendly, right on, cuddly capitalism sources from China. It's the way that the retailler manages the ethical issues surrounding low cost country sourcing that is the differentiator. Walmart at one of the scale and MEC at the other.
I abhor the Walmart ethos, size, scale frankly spending more the 5 mins in the retail barns makes me want to start hurting people for no apparent reason. Thats a reason not to shop there, but not buying Chinese product is not IMHO. |

Whats that got to do with Walmart in particular? There are other cheap food sources, in Ontario No Frills and the Loebs equivalent spring to mind....

Re: Wal Mart
Rationalising the pricing strategy. They advertise they are continually rolling back prices, so surely what you pay for an item today is always too much?

Re: Wal Mart
So what are your thoughts about people working for walmart...............and i'd becareful....
Nothing wrong with walmart, same as every other place around, yeah i have read the reports and reports on other stores as well  At least when i have a trolley full they help me the car, our local store is also very friendly and helpful :p:p |
Re: Wal Mart
I like Walmart has pretty much everything you need at reasonable prices (some of its crap ..but you get what you pay for), by and large stores are clean, well laid out and the service is good....so much better then Zellers IMO. If I am in the States though , I find Target better then Walmart and for Grocery shopping you can't beat Walgreens
