Re: Vancouver meet up??
JamesM is the master of setting them up here.
Pick a quiet time of year- never December. Pick a date reasonably far in advance and stick to it Don't worry too much about consensus. Obviously you want to choose a free date but you're going to get so many long winded stories about Aunty mabel being in town that weekend and bla bloody bla. Just look for Yes/ No. The you just turn up yourself and hope someone else appears. (ideally take a friend or make an arrangement with one other BE'er who is a definite yes). |

I will just pick a date, time and location and take a Friend with me so I don't look like a loser when no one shows up |

Ok so lets look at mid - late January, somewhere easy to get to - downtown Vancouver.

Typically in Toronto we get 14 to 18 but on several occasions after a snow storm we got 3. Last time out we had 5 and a half although to be fair we had several well attended earlier this year so the frequency has picked up and I suspect people were jaded. Also in hindsight I didn't pick the most obvious thread title. |

I'm fortunate as I have next to no friends (for obvious reasons) and the well situated pub (transit access, highway access and hotel across the street) is 10 minutes from my office so it's an excuse to get drunk around a table every few months. Because I can sit at the bar and drink alone quite happily attendance has never frightened me all that much. Anyway you need us other folks to stop crashing your thread so Vancouverites get on it! |

If I am not working and have the date and time free, wife and I will come.

Yup. You can't please everybody. All you can do is give them enough time to sort their lives out.

I wish I could just sit at a bar on my own but it seems like it's still a it of a taboo thing for a lone female. People think she has been stood up on a date, is an alcoholic, a hooker or (in my case) a singleton the wrong side of 30 who must own 10 cats.:lol: |

Great!!! Do you have a preference for weekday evenings or weekends? It will be good to put names to faces if I can pull this off |

Weekday is easier simply because we have less going on, but weekends in the evening 6:30p or later is doable as well.
