I read once, admittedly on an RV enthusiasts website, that owning a camper trailer means that you know your bed and bedding is clean and comfortable because its yours and its like being in a hotel with a different view each day.
I was instantly sold on this idea, mainly because I can never find a hotel bed with a perfect pillow arrangement for me and I am blowed if I am dragging an extra suitcase with my bedding in it to a hotel.

So true.

Some hotels, particularly the cheaper ones can be downright nasty

I could bring my own chocolate... wait - do you mean nicely wrapped decorative chocolate deliberately placed there by hotel management as part of the experience or chocolate remaining smeared on that pillow by the last occupant?
