It is my understanding that if you are receiving a British State pension that you can claim all NHS rights while in Britain for a visit. Also if you inform them of the visit they will give you the full incremented rate for the duration of the stay. Of course it will drop back to the sad frozen rate on return to Canada. This is criminal in my opinion. They are virtually saying of course you are entitled to it but not if you live in Canada. We worked the same number of years as those who live in Britain and paid our taxes dutifully. Now because we choose to spend our retirement years here in a Commonwealth country close to family we are PUNISHED with a frozen pension. If you agree this is wrong. Please write to parliament and register your complaint. Maybe one day someone will listen.

That's not quite right - it looks like they'll only treat conditions in hospital (not GP visits, etc) that arose after your arrival in the UK, and you must have lived for 10 continuous years in the UK at some point.

I don't agree that this is wrong. I think if you move to Canada you must expect everything to be frozen. I don't really think peensioners should sponge off the NHS anymore than anyone else who has left the UK.
