I cannot possibly imagine how this genie is ever going to go back into the bottle. Mass terror and brutality with religious zeal is beyond imagining.
It is brainwashing simple as that. Jim Jones, David Koresh achieved similar levels of mind control in a different sphere.

The leaders will have to be eliminated. Their followers will have to be deprogrammed or contained (Guantanamo anyone?). Tolerance of religious extremism (radical preachers for instance) will need to reduce.

The important thing is that the genie IS put back in the bottle. The idea of "demonstration killings" is abhorrent. It feels like we have time warped back to the Middle Ages.

Maybe the world just needs to try ignoring the middle east for a while, who knows maybe it will satisfy them to leave the rest of the world alone. Doesn't seem like anyone is going to be able to win over there and bring in peace and stable government's, so why not just leave them be?

Because they're developing a taste for cutting our heads off.

Yes the cabbie has been headline news here for quite a few days now. He has been getting strong support from the British Muslim community (as he should).

There is some merit in the argument that showing the depravity (past or future) will better inform people of the threat.

YUP, but this time, after we have killed enough to make them start at least thinking about their sickening actions, we stay there and help them to run the country, as its obvious that these savages cant control themselves or their own people.

If there going to go in, needs to be a world issue with multiple countries, and we need to accept ground troops have to go in, and some will get killed. Not going to win anything with just planes and drones.

But will the countries involved voters put up with troops being killed again?

OK we go in and slaughter the bloody lot of 'em....but which lot... yes... I know the IS lot.... but in which country? There seems to be a number of countries to choose from, all of which are countries that we have so far had a meddle with, to no great success and we could add Libya to the mix too....Algeria seems to have been remarkably quiet of late, so something should be stirring there too surely?

We don't seem to have done a really great job of helping any of these people run their countries having helped them overthrow their violent dictators do we?

Now we have Qatar and the Gulf States are now blaming the West for the rise of IS.

I'm not saying we're doomed, but by gum we do seem to be in a bit of a bloody mess don't we?
