Wonder if the new trade agreement to replace NAFTA will end up ratified before the Canadian election this fall?

US House leader won't take up legislation to ratify the deal unless it's tweaked to address the concerns which include, issues with enforcement tools, labor reforms in Mexico, environmental protections and provisions on pharmaceuticals.

The US House took off for summer break, very unlikely at this point it can be ratified before October.

If it will help kill Trump's chances in the 2020 election, I hope they don't ratify it until they get a decent president.

I don't think the democrats have much desire to ratify it in its current form, so could very well lead to it not being ratified in 2020. The big question is will Trump issue notice to remove the US from the current NAFTA.

After watching him pull out of agreements for no tangible reason, and impose tariffs for no reason other than to make news, (pretty much without notice) you have to wonder how much a deal with him is worth.

This is serious issue. The man has set a precedent and any agreement entered into with the US will need to be watertight....
But no president is going to tie the hands of any succeeding president and Trump has shown that the US system is capable of promoting anyone to be POTUS. They were lucky with Reagan, at least he was a political animal with some semblance of integrity, they misjudged Trump and now find themselves hanging on to this particular tiger's tail.
We can only hope that the next celebrity voted into the top position doesn't think that Capone and Stalin are fine role models to be followed.
