To say that the US and EU can't do anything because it is Russia is in my opinion a weak excuse. It doesn't matter if Russia 'gave' Ukraine Crimea, it is Ukrainian territory and I am not aware of any nation that does not recognise that.

If Russia is allowed to move into Ukraine without consequences then that is going to have far more dangerous consequences in the future. We may as well go back to a Cold War state of West vs East.

The West is happy to intervene in Libya, put sanctions on Iran but when it comes to Russia it just lays down. There has to come a time when enough is enough. That time should be when Russia invades an independent country for no real reason other than a power grab.

My concerns are primarily focused on Poland, what are they going to do. If Russia invades does poland go into Ukraine to help defend them, as a NATO Member, that drags everyone into the mire, they will know that they would have the adjacent border with Russia. European and NATO ALLIANCES are very different to to those of 20 years ago. It is unsurprising that many Central European countries are quiet at present, particularly when they are so reliant upon Russia for gas. This is a very serious situation that could escalate very quickly.

I suspect Poland is looking at strengthening their border. Almost every European country will be on a higher alert level, Poland will be looking at some support from NATO right now, despite Ukraine not being a NATO ember, the west has indirectly offered a hand to bring it towards the west. I suspect there are some tweaky bums right now in former eastern block countries. So, how is this to be sorted, Ukraine must let Crimea cede back to Russia.

Houses will be cheap, at least the ones with a wall or two missing. And the worst of the radiation will have decayed by then.

You are so right. D- for me, I must try harder. Well now we know that little fact, the whole essence of the crisis is just a nonsense, everything is fine and the border control points on the polish - Russian border will show green lights and the poles won't be worried, if fact most have them have just popped yo yhe loo, they won't have to worry about getting caught with their trousers down. after all they are really good neighbours.
