Reports don't back up the wage suppression, it's been pretty well debunked as quite negligible.
I should qualify that I'm not saying there isn't a low payed low skill and wage issue, just that FoM and lower immigration won't fix it.
In terms of low skilled low wage, I don't see a good answer for that since OUR government have insisted on making it impossibly hard (expensive) to study.
I'd suggest they take a look at that. Preventing higher education is a killer for the countries future.

I believe you have personified the "elite" versus the "man on the street" with such comments.
The plumber that lost his job to an immigrant from the EU doesn't care about how insignificant or negligible he is statistically, all he cares about is how he is going to feed his family.

People have genuine fears, far better to address these than stop any reasoned debate with accusations of racism. As a for instance, Steve Lennon of Luton, massively against Islam because of the huge influx over the last few years, and the escalation in rapes, female circumcision and calls for Sharia law that goes with it. He may be right, he may be wrong I don't know I've never been to Luton, however it's not the place of the Lilly Allens and Gary Linekers of this world to criticize him from their mansions in 99% white British villages in the Cotswolds or Midsomer. Who was it who said 'before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes' ?
There's a big steaming lack of empathy for your average working class family nowadays.

It's the context that's important, apologies if I didn't make that clear. What do you think of the plumber who wants to feed his family, or Ms Allan calling for everyone else to welcome migrants while she sits all comfy in a 4 million pound mansion? My point is that shutting down debates with an accusation of racism is not just counter productive, it's stupid and dangerous.

Almost as if people can't differentiate between legal FoM, RoW immigration and illegal immigrants 🤔
In your case, I think you were making a point about not relating to people's problems. I try, so long as those problems are not blamed and projected on the wrong causes!

Right ok, just so we're clear because I've seen a lot of EU FoM bad due to fear of Islam and stuff. Even illegal immigrants.

Misinformation in the press is largely to blame for peoples' ignorance on these subjects, but on the flip side of that we have the many millions of us that baulk at the idea of being called a racist, and won't speak our minds because of it. We CAN discuss colour and background, and even take the piss based on it without being racist, same as we SHOULD be able to take the piss out of religion without having to fear reprisal. I'm not a fan of the world at the moment

0.14% is net EU FoM immigration Per annum.

Not a reason in itself to prevent immigration, nevertheless it's worthwhile dealing with correct facts.
As to 0.14%, what is it a percentage of? UK population? EU population?

The debunked link is related to general earnings, not lower wage earnings. In that lower wage sector, reports do confirm wage compression. Anecdotally (the builders etc that air their views on the radio or TV) the suggestion is that significant wage compression exists.

There may be a wage and job problem, but absolutely no evidence leaving EU will resolve. I don't think it will help. But cost push inflation and maybe even stagflation certainly will make things worse. Ironically hitting low earners and the poorest, the JAM the most.
