Yes, I am thinking of doing this with Telus so it would cost us $240 to cancel. But you get to the point where you are so fed up with the charges creeping up and up every month. When I was with Shaw, we never went over our "generous" 250 GB internet allowance or even anywhere near that limit. Since changing to Telus, we seem to be doing it all the time and there's one less person of us here on a daily basis ... so we have to pay an extra $10 pm for unlimited.

I am always wary of companies who require contracts to get a reasonable price, if their service is good, why the contract?
I've always had Shaw except a small period with Telus, and generally happy, although we have tried the can we get a better price or we will cancel a few too many times as now they are more then willing to cancel and don't attempt to offer anything better, so we are stuck since Telus is a no go.

Well worth a try looking at how much your paying.
Ive just seen theyre offering Fibre internet now, been expecting it for a while so likely prices will begin to fall on their other deals. I looked and 100mbps has 500gb of data and as i said its fixed at $50 per month for 12 months to match Shaw.

Yes, thank you for the tips. I will try these strategies with Telus. Probably I will wait till we reach the one year point (November). You now how you always have to psych yourself up to make this kind of phone call.

Just signed up for Techsavvy, they install next month. I like the no-contract flexibility because I've no real feel for where my data usage will be. We had 200Gb with Rogers and hit the 75% warning with reasonable frequency; but I suspect that's the kids.
Since the ex moved out with the Rogers package I've been managing on my smartphone hotspot...
So I can drop my monthly bandwidth and speed if I find I've oversubscribed.

Did you buy the modem outright?

We have unlimited but only ever use 250gbs per month so would probably be fine on a 300gb package as well. But its nice to have the peace of mind for downloading, when friends are over, if I need to download lots of software for a client etc so we keep it. Same with the mobile data we don't need all of the data we have 80% of the time but the 20% of the time that we do it is really good to have.
