Trumps First week

See, no matter what the actual detail says, in campaigning Trump said he'd stop Muslims entering the US, signs an executive order designed to stop Muslims entering the US and people believe he's doing what he said.
And from the evidence so far, that's what's happening while Trump and others can just wash their hands of responsibility and say they didn't mean all Muslims.

Not that it even matters as they are stopping whoever they like anyhow. Which would be a good thing if it was based on common sense!! But it isn't, (see above story)

The main issue is whether Trump has power to just decide these things unchallenged.
From today's ruling (link in Jsmth's post) "There is no precedent to support this claimed unreviewability, which runs contrary to the fundamental structure of our constitutional democracy"

As said before, Trump just cannot lose. He can make out any order he wants. If it gets enacted he wins, if it's blocked he wins pointing the finger.
As HL Mencken once said 'nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people' and Trump understands this all too well.
You don't get to run a successful TV show by not understanding your audience.

The issue about tweets is not subtle. What he does is praise himself when he can, which is almost all of the time, and blame others when he doesn't get his way. He ensures that he gets publicity, high media coverage, his point across and most importantly lets his core support know that he's not forgotten why they put him there. The tweets are really all part of the performance, a drip drip of self congratulatory propoganda.
He really is a very dangerous man who understands that congress is buried in self interest and only the judiciary is independant enough and sufficiently removed from Washington to offer resistance.
He'll be claiming to have made the trains run on time shortly.

If you don't mind me saying, you do seem a bit hung up on just one aspect as if it's the be all, end all, namely the rights or otherwise of non US citizens and whether it's okay to discriminate against them.
The main issue is whether Trump has power to just decide these things unchallenged.
From today's ruling (link in Jsmth's post) "There is no precedent to support this claimed unreviewability, which runs contrary to the fundamental structure of our constitutional democracy"

As far as Trump's actions, whether good policy or not, they are either in accordance with Constitution and the laws, or they are not.
I do not have a legal background , so after all the initial motions filed back and forth, it will be interesting what the final decision is. I think Trump will lose in regards to green card holders or non citizens in the US, but win about non citizens outside the country.
I guess the silver lining is Trump may learn something from this episode.
