(Apologies for this off topic post but apparently I know nothing about washing machines, I've recently been told that they have settings other than the on/off I've used for years).
Yes I did dbd. I also have checked out the pictures of a very shiny tractor on the blog. The snowblower I have to confess is a tad disapointing in the pics, resembling as it does a collection of rusty metal and gear chains. Still, I expect when you post the pics of it in full PTO driven fury next winter I will be suitably awed!

I thought I'd used my (much less impressive than your) snowblower for the last time this winter but we had (still having actually) a storm last night that dumped another 10cms. Given the speed that it was drifting in as I was clearing the drive I suspect I'll be having another go tonight. Not yet time to change my avatar then.

You don't think a tangle of rusty metal and gear chains is good for the rural cred?

I'm a little embarassed that the dealer buffed the tractor before delivery, incompetent tractoring is one thing, shiny and conspicuous incompetent tractoring another. Still, it's not a car, I don't have to parade up Church St on it.

Funny - my OH never has any trouble with "back loaders" undone in the blink of an eye or less!

Hmmmm - guess he must have had loads of practice!

So.

How did we get from "Top loaders and front loaders" to "Over the shoulder boulder holders"?

Inquiring minds want to know.

You're correct though. I don't think there is such a beast as a top loading bra.

However I've seen plenty in recent times that are very definitely top loaded. In fact if they were any more top loaded they be falling out.

If they push them up any higher they could use 'em as a shelf.

Dunno. Some of the 1960s types, with the steel girders.....

Shovelling-in from the top seems the only real option.

My practical knowledge of operation is based solely on knowing how to defeat the energy saving features in order to get scalding hot water to wash the stinky diapers in. 30° may work for regular dirt, but is in no way effective against zinc based arse cream.
Have you managed to defeat them then? Doesn't even work for our regular dirt and I've resorted to pouring boiling water in from the kettle! ....who had the 'brilliant idea' that clothes will wash in cold water???

Turn the cold water off at the inlet...no cold water to mix= nothing but hot. We do that for the prewash, then turn it back on for the regular wash. Seems the best compromise...

I suspect the washer has a lot to do with effectiveness. Newer fancier agitators seem to do a better job than our old machine ever did.
