http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2...damien-comolli I still think Kenny will get more time. Winning the League Cup means they have Uefa Cup qualification so it doesn't matter if they finish 5th or 15th. If they go on and win the FA Cup how can they get rid of Dalglish with a cup double? I think they'll give Dalglish another 10 League games next season and see where they are. Maybe having given it a go, KD would rather like to depart on a winning point and keep some of his lustre... If things dont go much better than expected next season and they end up firing him mid season his legacy is tarnished and its hard to push him upstairs, he would have to leave under a cloud of disappointment, and I dont think anyone wants that. FSGs stated preference way back when was for a young manager, a future star... Rafa would love the job, its like he's holding out for it and has unfinished business, but I dont think its going to happen, he had his shot. on the other hand FSG may well want to hire a safe pair of hands with a proven record after this years league disappointment, time will tell. |

So, out by July then? Maybe the irony of statements of support by football club boards is lost on the American owners... |

As you alluded to most of the people who claim to be fans live in places like BC and Surrey. The reason as we all know is because Manchester United is a brand that people whoo know little about football associate with so they can try and fit in with the world around them.
The season ticket holder who lives walking distance from the ground, or the season ticket holder who travels 150-200 miles to home games? Both are valued supporters. |

Someone travelling 200 miles to support a team they have no connection with other than the fact that they want to support a team of winners is just an idiot wagon jumper if you ask me... People should have some connection to "their" team other then "I saw them on the telly and they won lots" IMO. Commecial Directors selling shirts in the far east by the container load would no doubt beg to differ. |

They need to go go high profile for a Hiddink or some one of that ilk. Be nice to see Liverpool entertain again. Very defensive minded under Houllier and Benitez. |

Actually the fans I most admire are the season ticket holders who then drive all over the country to watch their team play away games aswell. I also kind of feel a sense of pity as they must blow most of their cash on it. |
Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread
Although not EPL congratulations to Liverpool for reaching the final of the FA Cup.
Perhaps from a distance Andy Carroll did look like a donkey but he has scored 2 x important goals in the last 2 x matches and might actually resemble a work horse. Attention has now swung away from him for the time being. |

Haway the lads! |

saturday, also the codes and scoucers. l think the f a cup winners go into the europa cup, not sure l could be wrong. that could be our only way for european football next season.:D |
Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread
I was dissapointed with 3 things during that game.
1) Chelsea fans chanting during the minutes silence. 2) The referee 3) Another Spurs capitulation- Redknapp for England???? It'll be a nice close cup final. In the league Tottenham need to pick it up. In the summer we can re-group with a new manager possibly. |

Anything can happen, but how would Spurs react to being 3 points adrift of 4th with 4 games to play? |

But it's more than a couple, they've beaten Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal (as well as Stoke) in their last 5 games. The 5th was away to Chelsea where they lost by the odd goal in three as a result of shitty refereeing.
Quite an improvement. |

The other problem with a 4th official is over time it will become a 5th official, then a 6th, 7th, 8th, and before you know it you have tennis or american football with more officials than players. |

By all means have a 4th official, but why not use TV if its available? The main argument against more officials is that officials miss things, thats kind of the root cause of the problem.

Thats probably why the FA is against video.. cant be copying Rugger, can we now, oh no. Shame really because sin binning would help too. Too many games ruined by an early sending off for something petty. Footy would benefit from the option of a 5 or 10 minute sin bin, as well as permanent sending off. |
