Probably. What's the point of having a squad of 25 to 30 players if you get charged for playing them. I'm pretty sure any reserve team players called to the first team would make the effort to show they deserved it.

Mr Ashley must be rubbing his hands! I don't think NUFC will sell him right now though unless they get offered truly silly money as I think he realises he's got to be seen to give Pardew a chance. I'd say SAFC have enough other options that 18m is a good sale. I've always thought Bent was a good enough player, although not in the real top class, but if he wants to go, and the price is right then let him. I suspect it's all going to end in tears with Houllier at Villa but they shouldn't be poor enough to actually go down.

If Carroll, the Toon midfield is arguably just as good as your lot at the moment. Barton's on fire, Nolan is excellent and Gutierrez can be a matchwinner now and again. Tiote is much more defensive but solid, very solid.
