I wandered into a second hand/pawn shop with my 10 year old recently. They had a bright red trim 'phone for sale - very cool back in the day. First my daughter asked "what is it?" When I told her she said "but where's the screen?"

Re: Things that make you feel old
So the rules about wearing jeans in the UK don't extend to anyone over what 50, 60? No wonder I am perceived as the odd one out when I visit. I'm hardly ever out of mine and am well over 60! Thank goodness I live in Canada lol
I find it's the same with long hair too, I'm growing mine now after wearing very short spiky hair for the last however many years! Im protesting ageism! Lol |

I had a pair once. Also a pair of Lee Coopers. Both poor imitations of 'the genuine article' in my opinion. |

Nothing wrong with the classics. I tend to buy my jeans at the Kirkland boutique although I think the bricks and mortar version are $14.99 not $12.99. The jeans tend to last me 3 or 4 years each and then they head to the bin. https://m.costco.com/Kirkland-Signat...100325939.html |

It sounds like you would have been my type, lol, loons and long hair! So, Levi's in Canada tend to be around the $80 mark, although you can get them cheaper in sales. Bootcut (527's) are a little cheaper in the US though.. https://www.jcpenney.com/p/levis-527...plType=regular https://www.levi.com/CA/en_CA/Cleara...ns/p/055270546 If you love wearing them, don't stop! :) I just ordered three pairs of bootcut levis from JCP for a total of CHF19 more than I would pay for just one pair here! There will obviously be additional costs... JCP wouldn't let me ship internationally, so I had to resort to using my US reship delivery address, and they'll take it from there, shipping costs as yet unknown. Unless they split the delivery or disguise it well, I'll also get banged for Swiss import duty, but I'm betting that the two extra costs combined won't even reach the cost of a second pair of jeans, so the third pair could potentially be viewed as free! Feedback will be provided as and when. :fingerscrossed: |

I did have a look at reshipping earlier (GMTA!), it looked to be around $40 for 2 pairs, so hopefully 3 won't be much more. Well done you! :D |

It’s just that I find the cost benefit of more expensive jeans to not be worth it.
Footwear, jeans, trousers, shirts...you name it. Nothing that was ever double the cost I'd normally pay lasted twice as long. I will admit that cheap polo shirts from Primark lost their shape after a few washes but if you were slim enough to tuck them in, it wasn't noticeable. And at £4 a time when even C&A or M&S were £12, who cared? |

I did have Docs on to go to work.
I have two pairs of Docs. One cherry, for casual wear, and one black, for formal wear. Similarly, I have four pairs of Crocs: slippers, DIY, formal and plastic (bought for the beach). Souvette has two pairs of Docs. One black patent and other floral. She is older than me. Then again, she goes to work in bright yellow tights with smiley faces on them (not sure what the generals make of that!). |

I have a reasonable number of pairs for different circumstances. She has an Imelda Marcos-style collection and most of them look the bloody same. |

Re: Things that make you feel old
makes yer feel old? visiting old 'haunts', road trip back to uni, sitting in the same pubs (Durham for me) thinking back to watching Horslips and Caravan play live in Dunelm, getting blasted at the working men's club while trying to hit double tops, feeling old in a good way I guess... noticing your ears get 'numb' to the 'stereo' volume (guess that dates me) so quickly these days. throwing a ball and wondering if your shoulder is still attached. as said, looking in the mirror... there's an antidote, somewhere back in this thread, keep wearing jeans, docs, in fact anything you want, turn your guitar amp to max overdrive, never stop listening to music, never stop being curious ;)

Re: Things that make you feel old
When you look at your music collection and realise that there is very little post 2000 and then realising that it was 18 years ago!
Having a few cans at the end of the working week and the sofa looking more appealing than going out on the rampage  A couple of years ago my dad became a pensioner. |
Re: Things that make you feel old
When you go into a skateboard shop and they assume it's present for your child. :(
