Here's a good use for the Beefeater - a recipe for Cariboo Roast in Gin. (Only in Canada!)
Wonder if Superstore stocks Cariboo??

Although an old friend had a saying about someone being "to sweet to be wholesome" This probably true in the case of the dodgy tonic.
Fledermaus:- after a few more glasses i'm sure it will start to taste more palatable. I also loved to drink Gin & Limon in Majorca.

I'd highly recommend Millers gin, very crisp and pure taste, at its best when served with plenty of ice, a slice of lime and topped with icelandic tonic (which I can't remember the name of, but it's made with glacial water).
Tanq is a decent gin too, Sapphire just tries too hard, it uses some quite horrid chemically extracted flavours (try a little bit of gin with water, it takes the alcohol taste away and lets the actual flavours of the gin come through, you'll be suprised at some of the "premium" gins).

I know, I know, you shouldn't stray from Schweppes tonic water but I was lured by that milkybar kid, Galen Weston.
Lord knows what possessed me to by Beefeater gin. The combination makes a vile gin and tonic
So, should I open that bottle of Tanqueray or will the PC tonic contaminate that as well?
It's hard to make a decision on such an important matter, what would you advise? In the meantime I am having to drink Cointreau with crushed ice.

But then Whisky and 7Up is my tipple.
If the whiskey is rye then it doesn't matter because it's crap. If it's SCOTCH whisky then adding anything other than a drop of water borders on the sacrilegious.

I hear you and know that some purists even frown on the water bit but I generally add ice. Last night's nightcap was Bushmills on the Rocks.

I've never understood why people buy, fairly expensive, spirits and them adulterate the taste.
Sorry. Bugbear of mine.

Personally I never understood why people get so up tight about it.
I'll drink Macallan straight...If I want something on the rocks then out comes the Jamesons..not cos I'm a snob...just cos I'm cheap and cant afford to adulterate the expensive stuff!

Maybe they just prefer the adulterated taste?

I like Macallan very much. I wouldn't dream of putting anything in it.
Diluted spirits are nothing more than an alcohol delivery system. Tart fuel.

So why put the tonic in the gin, or the coke in the rum, or the OJ in the tequila. Different stokes for different folks. If Johnnie Walker and sprite is your fave tipple, how much better would a decent whisky make it...
