Teatime Choices

Re: Teatime Choices
It’ll be a small filet of white spring salmon (caught by me ) and I expect some variant of a middle class salad.
Lunch was another concoction of slurry with some added ginger which brightened up the afternoon.

Re: Teatime Choices
Thai green curry. Delicious, though about 200% hotter than I intended to make it. Lovely flavours, lips stinging like billy-o, and worried about the ringpiece tomorrow.

So far the basic order is shaping up like this:
Onion bhajis
Samosas
Palak Paneer or Sag Aloo
Chicken Jalfrazie
Lamb Bhuna
Prawn Tikka
Large rice pulao x 2
Garlic and Peswari naan
Popadums
Mango chutney
Lager

Re: Teatime Choices
Chicken is going to be involved for the next few evenings.
Bought five packs of 4 leg/thigh portions @ 99c lb.
Easy to vary the meals so it doesn't seem the same. I think there will be a rather large casserole of some sort included.

Re: Teatime Choices
Oink's curry bonanza sounds lovely, I do like all of them except the prawn masala.
Fears for the ring of fire were greatly over-exaggerated, mercifully. Just as well, because I had the second half of the pot tonight and it was even hotter after a 24 hour stew. Lovely.
I'm working with a bloke from Hartlepool who told me he was making some weird named dish tonight. Can't remember what he called it but on questioning it sounds like what we Scots call stovies. Potatoes, onions and corned beef.

Chicken thighs are my favourite joint of chicken. Who cares about dry old breast?

Re: Teatime Choices
The prawns aren't in a sauce, they're just prawns. They're marinated and then tandoori cooked. In the restaurant they come on a sizzler plate (which I hate almost as much as the waiters signing Happy Birthday) but obviously they just come in a tin foil dish as its a takeaway. My goal is to keep the food order under $100.

Re: Teatime Choices
I used to trap crayfish and eat them, and they were very good. That's as close to a bug as you can get. I was selective, culling the small and those with eggs. There are still a couple of traps at the lake.

Re: Teatime Choices
Best Value cordon bleu from Giant Tiger, on sale for $2, (more than 1/2 off!), half hour @ 400F in the toaster oven. Culinary crime?, don't care, I'm tired and needy.

Re: Teatime Choices
Yesterday and today; chicken and rice, so very nice, the meal so good I had it twice, the kicker is that Korean gochujang spice. Something fat, something lean, something golden and something green, side of kimchi.
