I'd try that. No Frills was supposed to have St Hubert tourtierre 2 sales ago but they never had any in stock - only chicken and broccoli.

I would try that as well. Salmon and shrimp are my current favourite fishcake major ingredients.

@BristolUK, how creamy is it under the pastry? Thinking of doing my own...

There's a bechamel sauce. Not runny but very moist.

The pies are not as big as the chicken ones, only 545g instead of 800 or so. But filling. My MIL doesn't like fish of any kind so we split the pie into 3 and don't need anything added. Just as well as a third is 460 cals.

They're worth the normal $10 but you can get them for $7

If MIL doesn't do fish, does she just eat the pastry?

Ha, no. It would be tainted. I'm surprised she can manage the fishy smell.

She has something else when we have fish.

I'm making the new BE favourite saganaki (can't help thinking Nagasaki) and throwing in some fresh fish along with the shrimp since the fishing was good today.

We ate at a new Kelsey's that opened. Best fish (and chips) I've had here. I've tried it in several places and it's usually been haddock and not very good.

But this was cod and brilliant. Just like from a good chip shop back in the UK (but not my old local one which was terrible)

Don't despair, only a few days left until kippers, and sausage rolls, and fruitcake and mince pies. Looks like she's counting on you eating too much over the holidays and is being proactive, or possibly planning a trip to somewhere warm and wants you to look your best in a bathing suit. I had thought that a culinary course of some sort at VCC might be a nice little stocking-stuffer and prompt an interest in more appealing food, but on second look there don't seem to be any night classes. Try leaving Laura Calder laying around on the browser of any media devices, as if by accident.

I had chicken thighs with peppers and mushrooms and red onions in sweet black pepper sauce, and rice.

Sadly not, he told me I should only eat red meat once or twice a year.. I had to beg to get that dispensation, lol... he'd prefer me not to eat it at all... I'm a rebel!
