Try just taking them down to yor local rink they will soon pick it up, I have been playing hockey since I was young and still play reccy now at 35 , if you can get them started now, might be real good way for them too meet other kids when they go to Canada if they were to join a local team.
Good Luck

I can just see those huge ones, they are probably bigger than the wee man! He'd be very into that!!
mmmmmmmmm - do you think they should be manufactured in colours - to match your shoes (maybe with a pattern).
It's all important to be co-ordinated you know! My daughter want's pink skates of course!!! She also got sight of a little pink ice dancer skirt and wants that to go with the skates.
So that's four pairs of adult bob's then!!!

Aye, ya cheeky mare! I didn't fall over at all ....almost, but not quite, lol
Anyway, Brits are supposed to be crap on ice and snow - YOU, on the other hand, Ms Norwegian, what's your excuse???!?!?!?!?
But it was worth the stress of hitting all those icy potholes just to make it in one piece to the beavertail stand!!!

Do you remember the Scottish cup that ended in overtime with penalty shootout? in around about 2001/2??? That was the year that Edinburgh Knights won against Dundee. Well that was the last time Mr L put on a pair of skates!!! But then what a way to end things I guess!! He used to play number 17 (is 6'5 so you can't miss him either). You'll know Livvie and Big Gill then?? maybe.

We take ours (3 & 5) knee pads, elbow pads, hockey helmet etc.. the little one hangs on to one of us, usually by a leg, the other one is quiet happy on his knees? We make quiet a picture

The chair is a good idea.
You could also get an appropriately sized hockey stick (if available). Thats how I learned. It won't hold him up as well as a chair will but it will help (3 legs are better than 2). I might be a little "cooler" than a chair too.

How about "Old" ones???
I started figure skating when I was 3. My husband never skated so I taught him this winter on our frozen pond.
I hung a can of beer from my fishing rod and dangled it in front of him.
He is 45.
It was hilarious.
