Tattoos ......................

Who's got one - some? Where are they and what are they of?

How old were you when you got inked and do you regret it? Would you get another?

I find the tattoos disgusting.

Lots of people have them in Toronto. Often ill thought out and will look even more terrible over time as their skin changes.

If you get one make sure it's in a place where you can cover it up.

cool Amy.

I have a really crappy old one on my top right arm thats faded (its only tiny 1" x 1") and am contemplating going in today to get it covered with something more appropriate.

If a) I decide to do do it when i'm in town and b) I can somehow get this pigging virus off my laptop that won't let it do anything other than safe mode, i'll post a pic.

Ooooh a new slag tag at the ripe old age of 41 - awesoooooome

Blank canvas here - and I intend to keep it that way.

A guy on my team at work had a snake tattoo on his forearm (that's arm) when he was 17 and has regretted it since. So he's recently done 20 or so treatments to have it removed (and more to go). $4000 to remove a $75 tattoo.

Re: Tattoos ......................

I used to class tattoos as disfigurement by choice, however I have grown up a bit and realise some have specific meanings and some are really beautiful, so understand why some people like them.

It makes me sad to see so many youngsters with truly awful tattoos that they got just because everyone else has got them, there are a lot of pointless ones around, but because there are so many it doesn't notice as much if you know what I mean. We got quite a few comments this summer from our English visitors about the amount of people with tattoos here, as I say we don't really notice anymore unless it's a really ugly one or one that is going to be regretful in later life. There is a really pretty girl in town and she has one of those lucky cat things tattooed on her chest - the tattoo goes right up to her neck, makes it difficult to cover up for work situations I would imagine.

I will remain a blank canvas, but mainly because I'm too chicken to have something permanent.

I used to frown upon tattoos, till I googled "Scarification"

While out walking the dog one day, I happened to look at a scar I have on my hand, and wondered if there were any freaks out there that would choose to scar themselves on purpose, in the name of art.

Unfortunately I was right.

Do not google this if you are at all squeemish.

Didn't google it but can imagine - wow just shows there's something for everyone

My daughters friend has a piercing on her back at the bottom of her neck / top of her spine sounds wierd but it looks wicked - seeing as I have a 5 o clock appointment for my new ink today (woohoo!!!) I might enquire as to how much one of those will cost (there is a big possibility that i'll totally chicken out of that seeing as it would likely involve a big needle and i'm a wuss )

Bleurgggh edit - just googled nape piercings - and all the horror stories - um no thanks!!!!!

I have a tattoo of a maple leaf (see attached). It's near the top of my left thigh, so it's very discreet, and it's only small. I got it done in Vancouver in August 2004, while here on a working holiday. It symbolized my determination to get PR and move here :)

Why do girls get girly tattoos like flowers or butterflies? They obviously have tem to attract guys attention so why wouldn't they have ones of lorries, tanks or footballs?

I think the best tattoo, if that was the purpose, would be of two naked chicks getting down and dirty with each other, while drinking beer with wording underneath that says "i'm an heiress to billions".

Might work?

Four tattoos, I used to date a tattoo artist.

Half sleeve depicting a tropical fish scene, a turtle on my back, quite a large piece on my bottom going down my leg of killer whales and dolphins, and a sperm on my tummy (that was my good luck IVF tattoo).

I had my first tattoo in my mid twenties, which was almost 20 years ago, My tattoos are all one off's, no sagging evident... Yet.

I didn't find it at all painful, bit nagging like toothache, I do not regret them... Yet.

Good luck Moo.

that's got me wondering about those popular drip ones, usually by the eye. Do they mean "turned at the wrong moment"?

I've none, just piercing. My favourite of the ones I see often is the girl with "White Trash Beautiful" on the back of her neck.

All done and it looks super good

Anyhoo the tattoo guy told me of the best one he did - its his shop and sometimes him and his mates have parties there.

One night his mate asked him to tattoo the words "Your Name" on his ass. So he did (he said it looked beautiful as well lol.

The guy goes home to his girlfriend and says to her "I just had your name tattood on my ass".

She was apparently over the moon til she saw it and then dumped him :)

It's the symbol used by charities for Huntingtons disease. It's on my right forearm.

And my first one.

This was my first act of rebellion after moving out and to be honest, is a crap tattoo - but I don't regret it in the slightest.

I also have a large tribal one up my left arm and over the shoulder.

Admitedly, they're not to everyones taste but I don't care. They all have memories attached to them and signify parts of my life over the last 16 or so years.

Shit no it won't - i'd want something that beautiful in either our bedroom or the main bedroom in the basement (both kings) the only queen is in the 'never really used ever unless someone passes out and can't go home' room - and that beautiful bed desrves more of an audience than that.

I think that was more of a generalisation / a stereotype phrase which would conjure up a mental image of your typical council estate scrubber with a bad tattoo.

Oh for goodness sake! Its a forum and people will post their views. Moochops asked a quyestion, people commented, did you see her get all stroppy about the tramp stamp comment?

I refer to public transit as the scum shuttle, I still use it.
I sometimes refer to tatts as tramp stamps but I have one.

Its really not the end of the world.

It seems to me that a "Tramp Stamp" is specifically a tat on the back, just above the buttocks, "Arse Antlers" in England. One wonders what use it would be to have a relative's dates of birth and death back there; whenever you needed to know them you'd have to go to a complicated bathroom to use both mirrors.

Poop, It's only used in our spare room right now (and believe me it's squeezed in) and usually covered in crap that we haven't put away. It won't fit in our new house, unless we have it as our main bed, but OH wants to keep the other set we've got. Never mind, I'll let the next one on the list know we are selling it:rofl:
