Why does the likelihood of having liquid in one's mouth increase when reading such a post?

Why is it a silly name? he was one of two most celebrated canadian fighter aces (along with Will "Billy" Barker, who he later went into business with.)

Both Billys, Bishop and Barker, won VCs (one under rather more dubious circumstances than the other), and went on to pioneer commercial air travel in Canada as well as rise to the top ranks of the RCAF. Parallel lives with very different backgrounds.

not a silly name , just silly having two airports with same name.

Any grown up man's name ending in a y is silly.

Timmy, Tommy, Billy, Bobby, Jeffy, Dougy, Dickie, Ricky, Nicky, Willy, Herbie, Ollie, all silly.

Robbie is probably OK if you are Scottish. Maybe Barry as that one started out that way, unless it is short for Barence. Maybe.

Yesterday,

As a non planey person i don't understand why, if the plane was amphibious, that it didn't land in the lake instead?
Thunderstorm passing over, one wheel down and not retractable. The chances of a safe landing were greater on the asphalt than on water. Faster access by first responders, an amphib can skate along the runway on floats (wrecks the paint), but not water with wheels down - as a great many float fliers transitioning to amphibs have discovered! Less chance of drowning.

Barrington, perhaps? I knew one of those once.

I was at uni with a Peregrine, who was absolutely always Perry (but you would, wouldn't you? Honestly, who calls their kid Peregrine? And he was Welsh, though I suppose he couldn't help that either )

I remember Richard Bach writing about how he learned to always double-check the wheels on his amphibian plane the first time he landed on a runway with the wheels up...
