She will do so well in the West End doing musical theatre. There are so many great character parts there for her - Mrs Lovett in Sweeney Todd would suit her down to the ground. Such poise and confidence! I'm still tingling!

She's 48, a little over weight, and hasn't spent much time on her looks. so what? I bet not many of us on this board would look that great on stage: or have her guts.
I was moved by her.

I thought she was amazing - it was a total surprise to everyone, which just goes to show how we do judge books by their covers.
I looked up Elaine Paige singing the same song on You Tube & to be honest I preferred the Susan Boyle rendition - pure & sweet in comparison to Elaine's 'West End' style.

You know what, I don't often click on links to something on youtube, but I saw a neighbour whilst out walking Henry this morning and he was talking about a Susan somebody or other - so I clicked the link! I really hope she gets a shot at the limelight, she comes across as a hugely confident entertaining lady - I don't care how old she is or what she looks like, she deserves success if she wants it.

The truth is there are countless thousands who have good singing voices but just not good enough for that special public recognition. Her reception somewhat mirrors that of Paul Potts in 1970. A nondescript person who appears on a talent show and produces something totally unexpected. Our society pays so much attention to the attractive people that those such as Susan Boyle usually go through life talented, but unnoticed. Canada's Rita MacNeil, while not everyone's cup of tea, went unnoticed for many years until someone realized she had talent/potential.
I hope Susan goes on to bigger and better things. It's the success of people such as her and Paul Potts that encourage others to strive for their dreams.

Funnily enough I got to work this morning and my boss had asked me if I saw it. The popularity has just spread sooo quickly of this clip. I can't wait to hear it when I get home

Its a sad indictment of humanity that people were so dismissive of her, just because she wasn't a blonde stick with plastic tits they were mocking her before she had begun to sing...............makes me ashamed to be human

We all make assumptions based on that split second first meeting or whatever - and I don't care how quickly your conscience tells you that it was not a nice thing to think - too late you already thought it. TBH I did - but then again she was preceeded by some corkers on those "make me famous" type shows. The chicken guy from Leicester springs to mind in Pop Idol

sorry we sold out (I bought the last ones

I've been mulling over this one and the cynic in me says that it was all a bit contrived. From their comments in the wings, it was obvious that the presenters (Ant & Dec) already knew she was one hell of a singer. It follows that the judges and producers did too.
The rest is simple. Dress up an already unattractive woman to make her look even worse, diss her when she comes on stage and then let her sing.
Ratings, innit? Not to mention an opportunity for certain people to make a fast buck on the back of her sudden stardom. That You Tube clip has had close to 12 million views in a few days (it was at about 7 million last night).
