What a load of bollocks bringing in Woakes and Kerrigan. The arrogance of ECB shows no respect for the spectators and makes joke of the whole thing.

It appears that Geoffrey's grandmother could have hit Woakes all over the ground.
At least Blower is back.

I'd missed all the nonsense about Monty Panesar - presumably he'd have been the obvious choice as a second spinner. Peeing from the promenade at Brighton onto the heads of the bouncers who'd just thrown him out of a club does seem a quite remarkably stupid thing to do, with not quite the panache of Gower playing silly buggers in a Tiger Moth.
Still, with only four wickets down Australia's tail is already being exposed (one wonders why they bothered with a night watchman...). And from the text commentary it seems messrs Broad and Anderson were giving it some, though, so perhaps all is not lost. Who knows, if it starts turning tomorrow Kerrigan might get over his debutant's nerves, settle down a bit, and bowl a decent length. A spinner throwing long-hops down the pitch is not on at this level, particularly on a track as benign as the Oval appears to be.

Hence the name of the villain in one or the other James Bond book. Goldfinger?

But to return to the subject of Blowers (who's charming descriptions of the various cranes on the skyline and passing pigeons etc. is the only reason SWMBO lets me listen to the TMS broadcasts), did you know that Ian Fleming was at school with Henry Blowfeldt's father?

well, that was a bit of a crappy day. Gotta feel a bit sorry for Kerrigan - having been smashed for more than 6 per over yesterday, to be stood all afternoon out in the field without being given a chance to redeem himself. I suppose the thinking was that it was a bit damp for spin, but Swanny found some turn from somewhere. Must be a bit disheartening to see a part-timer like Trott being given preference (and then taking a wicket).

Thought Clarke was going to deck the umpire there he was so desperate for the light meter to rescue him!

We'd of done the same.
I think it backfired on them today. We got so much more out of it than they did.
