Great to see anybody beat the Australians and especially England...... a very tense match ..... never mind the quality feel the width type of game....... we probably need to tighten up our bowling...batting..fielding etc given that a lot of critics suggest that this is possibly the worst ever Australian Test Team to tour England..

Thankfully we have Anderson who is the best bowler in either side by a country mile.... Roll on Lords on Thursday !!

I think that's been put to rest already. Although minus the incredible first innings from Agar it would have been a pushover.

I think I'll pop out and storm the Bastille in celebration. Seems like a good day for it.

One hopes that you were able to raise a glass or two on Bastille Day in honour of an Englishman (well, a Kenyan who grew up in South Africa, but ask KP what difference that makes...) leading the peloton to the top of Mont Ventoux. 300,000 spectators, they reckoned on the telly, lining the roads in the heat and sunshine in the forlorn hope that a Frenchman might win a stage in this year's Tour.

Is he Kenyan? I didn't know. But anyway we had our own petit tour yesterday. A couple of hundred cyclists doing six laps around a 40 km circuit. This takes place every Bastille Day and passes our front door.

After the first several laps I found it increasingly difficult to figure out who was in the lead. And I never will know who actually won because the finish line was in La Cambe, about 12 km away.

I heard something a couple of weeks ago about that attempt. It looks like blocked in the UK only - where, with a few exceptions, it's not "needed" as much as outside the UK.

However, having just clicked on the link in my bookmarks list I see the url has already changed. Presumably that gets around it.

That is not looking good for the former colonials.

We should not, however, forget England's ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
