Summer thread

I think there's just a lot more here than rubbed off on you, with the possible exception of architecture and food. For some reason the settlers stopped building a lot of nice ornate big buildings when they got west of Winnipeg. Winnipeg had more interesting big buildings on skid row than we had in downtown Regina. Almost all the food choices we have today came with immigrants, and that explains the diversity (even in my own family). There is a lot of history, it just doesn't include Europeans - people were living here for thousands of years with structured societies and trade routes, laws and customs. They had the wheel, but only used it as a religious symbol, and in toys. I haven't given a shit about hockey for years, but quite a few of my friends are excited these days.

Sunny in Vancouver this week, not hot, not cold, pretty comfortable. A lot like San Diego weather this week here.

Summer must be close.
The Hummingbirds and Baltimore Orioles arrived today.

I'm going to enjoy this hot weather and clear skies for as long as I can.
Unfortunately though, this year is predicted to be a bad wildfire season which means hot temperatures with smoke. It's absolutely disgusting when forest fire smoke surrounds us, everything stinks and it ruins going outdoors.

Damn forecasters got it wrong, only 30c today instead of 32c.
Pssh, mustn't grumble.

trying not to complain about the low 20s and wet for the next week, since the entire Province is trying to catch fire even earlier than usual...... !! Speaking of 'tops', it's nice to be back in tanks.(nb: appreciation of heat is specifically dry heat. Hence the smile to be back in the Interior. If we were still in Humipeg and it was those temps we'd be crying and alternating between air-con and standing beside the open freezer again like we did last summer)

Just had three days of that heat (Interior), spent it almost all outdoors, hiking, beach, cycling, was truly glorious

Yeah it needs to be snug fit to get the maximum refreshing cooling benefit from it.....so its not a one size freezer fits all kind of thing, I have taken depserate risks before which I would advise against. The best one I ever found was in Cyprus in an appartment with no AC....so i did take the risk, but it worked out great, I was very pleased with the result....never found one that good again. Please don't try this at home alone....as death could result.

It's almost the time when Hwy 3 is safe to drive without fearing a blizzard at the higher elevations.
