A man in the US accidentally shot himself in the head and died on Monday as he was trying to persuade his girlfriend that guns are safe.

Re: stupidity galore
Yup, that's stupid. Whether the diagnosis is being over-used or mistakenly applied in some cases doesn't mean it isn't a real condition. I know dyslexics who aren't slow or stupid, bur have this cognitive impairment. It can be improved or compensated for and doesn't necessarily preclude someone being successful or having a career, but it still exists.
a) it is real
b) it is a cognitive disorder and has nothing to do with intelligence
c) it can be compensated for, but that requires a lot more effort than most people will realise
d) if you put in the effort, it does not preclude you from being successful or having a career.

Re: stupidity galore
Bit like the scumbag in Limerick in Ireland that shot himself in the head showing fellow scumbags how to shoot someone in the head. "Just put the gun to their head and pull the trig…" BANG!
Only down side was he had already knocked up a few local slappers so he didn't quite manage to remove himself from the gene pool.
Best comment I heard about it was "he didn't listen to his mammy when she told him not to play with guns. But sure, you know yourself, in one ear and out the other!!!"

Speaking as someone who was dyslexic long before it was fashionable I can confirm that:
a) it is real
b) it is a cognitive disorder and has nothing to do with intelligence
c) it can be compensated for, but that requires a lot more effort than most people will realise
d) if you put in the effort, it does not preclude you from being successful or having a career.

One of our staff is dyslexic. He still managed to get a degree and the work he does for us is very good. He does numbers, not words.
Similarly, our librarian/information officer is a classic Asperger case. He is monumentally good at his job (I call him our secret weapon). We don't let him out much. I used to wonder how he'd managed to get married and have kids. Then I found out that his wife is a psychiatric nurse. That made things a little easier to understand.

The Quebec Soccer Federation chose to enforce a ban on turbans on the soccer pitch last April, causing outrage in the Canadian Sikh community.

That was ludicrous. Chelsea and the communities near it are heavily anglophone. You'll hear more English than French in the pub there, as you will in most of the shops.
