You still have each other which is your biggest asset. Stay together and fight it together and this too shall pass. You will come out of it stronger and wiser. I have had a shitty year too and I kept in my mind that old chestnut of a quote from Churchill, "When you find yourself going through Hell . . . keep going!"

As said by everyone else, best wishes for a speedy recovery and I hope you can get treatment asap. Two of my sisters are cancer survivors, (breast and ovarian) and it can be beaten. This is the time when retail stores are hiring extra help for the Christmas rush so hopefully your OH can get something soon.

Holy crap that's a lot for anyone but in the space of a week? I can't think what you must be going through. Heartfelt best wishes and prayers for you and your family.
On a side note, getting diagnosed with cancer did bring up a conversation with some ex pat friends of mine last weekend. 3 Brit nurses all agreed if they got diagnosed with cancer they'd hop on a plane and get back to blightey for treatment (not sure how feasible that is?) because although the care in Canada is good once you get it, as you say it's a long wait list. Whereas the UK don't do the preventative care in the first place, they crisis react and are therefore quicker at getting you in once diagnosed. One friend even went back to Sweden (her home country) in order to receive the initial operation and then came back here to continue with the care, actually recommended by the Canadian doctors to do this too.
Is it something for you to consider? I can imagine at the moment your head is spinning with all kinds of thoughts and questions. Just putting out there.

For one thing I have not been resident in UK for over 7years, so don't reckon to qualify for NHS treatment, and with Alan being out of work, finances are a little tight to be flying back for private treatment. I might think some more about that....

I thought I'd bring it up as it had got me thinking "what would I do". Granted I've not been in the UK for 6 years, haven't paid any contributions etc., however not sure how it stands, are they bothered, do they check? Are you entitled because you're a UK Citizen? No clue, maybe someone on here has had some experience.

Rose, if you are going through Tom Baker Centre, I have heard very good things about them - once you are in the system. Let's hope some dates present themselves quickly.
