Fair point. I respect that side of their job but I meant ones like Terry Dubrow who from what I can gather are insanely rich from doing pretty much only cosmetic surgeries. I can't stand that look of plastic women.

A lot of people say that they think my job must be very interesting and they would love to do it but it's a long road to get to it which puts a lot of people off. A lot of people think talking therapy is a load of old sh**e and that's fine too.

I often get told I don't look like a Counsellor. Apparently I'm too trendy to be a Counsellor and I don't wear Jesus sandals and cardigans...

I wouldn't change my job - I'm very happy doing what I am doing.

If someone tells me they are a cop I always want to find out more - it's a career I seriously considered and they have some good stories too. Utmost respect from me for the armed forces.

If someone told me they were a plastic surgeon I wouldn't be impressed - another type of surgeon yes but plastic no.
You might be in a minority. My missus used to be quite wary of telling strangers she was a soldier.

These days she's a money grabbing, ladder-climbing bureaucrat with not an ounce of loyalty remaining in her body. She's quite happy to tell people that.

I think it fair to say that contact with such people has dragged that child down, she's getting rich but at the cost of her integrity.
I have commented before upon the fact that lawyers marry lawyers, are the children of lawyers and associate only with lawyers in North America (or my little part of it). It didn't happen to anything like the same extent in England and, for that, I am grateful.

I don't like associating with them and, for the most part, it was that fact that gave me the push to start my own practice.

One hopes you are never involved in an incident that requires the skills of such a person.

They are not all tits and bums sculptors, as I suspect you know. I suspect that those that have had mastectomies are grateful of their skills.

Edit: I can see that this has been raised by another poster and you have responded.

Yes and like I already said its the tits and bums ones I object to. Cases like what was her name Lola where she went up to a stupid cup size and it killed her? I think that's irresponsible to even work on people that are clearly suffering from mental illness and need help not surgery. Or that Guy that wants to look like Ken and has had like 100+ surgeries. Someone needs to help him with his issues not keep operating on him.

Of course I respect surgeons who do repairs after accidents, mastectomies etc - who wouldn't? I should have been more clear.

Fair enough.

I believe that people should be permitted to spend their money on what they wish to, be it a large house, fancy car, expensive dress or new bum. In that sense, the doctor is simply performing a skill that someone wants and is willing to pay for.

Ditto for expensive lawyers, expensive counsellors, expensive hairdressers

To a degree yes but for example if someone came into my room and needed help in another area that I am not specialized in - I would refer on - not take their money because they are vulnerable...

Having over 100 surgeries isn't right is it? it's trying to perfect (in their eyes) the outsides of their bodies when in reality it's the inside (mind and mental health) that needs fixing...I'm talking the extremes here - not your average someone who has a big conk and wants it fixing...

Perhaps you're unaware that we have a regular poster on the France BE forum called Eurotrash?

I never knew he had it in him.
