So where is autumn ?

OK - who stole autumn?

I know Spring can be a bit like "blink and you've missed it" in many parts of Canada, but I wasn't aware that Autumn has succumbed to the same fate.

One week it was 32 degrees in sunny Calgary, and the next it was trying to snow (pathetic attempt admittedly) and now the weather is currently struggling to drag itself above zero degrees.

I saw a few yellowing trees then bang, a winter landscape. Where were my gentle, calm and colourful evenings? where was my Indian summer? Where was that one month window open to plant my spring bulbs before the earth became encrusted with an icy layer?

So who's got autumn? C'mon - who is keeping it to themselves? Give! :frown::p

you know I was thinking the same thing - theres still snow on the ground here and on Friday it was -15 with the wind chill. (thats a drop of 49 degrees in a couple of weeks conveniently missing that other season in the middle that someone has deemed uneedable ((is that a word?)) this year).

I'm with you Ann I didn't expect to be hauling water to the cows this early :(

I was out in the forest yesterday- it was definitely weird seeing green leaves on top of the snow.

This time last year it was t-shirt weather.

I love the white stuff though, so bring it on!

According to the weather office autumn restarts on Thursday.

Personally I'll believe it when I see it.:sneaky:

Now I'm off out to bring in our two outside hoses which are frozen solid because I didn't take them off the taps and drain them when I should have.:(

just had a nosey at your photos, very nice. thoughts of a long cold winter in AB had me thinking the other day of the Island. I spoke to a few people who have lived and worked there and the opinion varied between too quiet to just right. a place to go to retire came up a bit and nanaimo in particular a bit far out with not much there. so just wondering how you found day to day life for shops, schools, drive to victoria and the local cops, as thats what i would end up doing most probably. thanks rae.

Victoria PD and Sanich PD are the local muni forces, other than that its the mounties, including Nanaimo. I much prefer the areas around Victoria, although housing costs would be higher for you coming from Alb, I would actually find it cheaper.

Victoria is beautiful, right on the water, very english style pubs. Would be a great place to live, although I have often wondered if I would get some sort of island fever. It is a retirement hub so there are a lot of retirees.
