That fragile Honda failed to start today. I'm in two minds about putting the price of a battery into it.

I'm on a mountain bike, very like the one I had in the UK but half the price, of course.

Since being here, I've had two Jeep Liberty's. The first was a gas version with bolt on wide wheel arches and lighting and was incredibly thirsty and incredibly badly built. After two years of a (in hindsight the wrong option) five year interest free credit purchase I did a deal to swap into a three year lease on a Liberty diesel. Even carrying some negative equity I lowered my monthly payments, reduced my fuel consumption and avoided a $1000 maintenance bill for replacing all the brake rotors for the second time!
The diesel liberty is a much better drive and I quite like it as a car. However it too has been plagued by build quality/warranty issues and when the lease is up in August its gone, likely to be replaced by Subaru Forester or a Mitsubish Outlander. (Like all BE men though my heart lusts after a F150 or possibly F350
)The Mrs drives a 2003 Dodge SX which is efficient in a very dull sort of way. Touch wood its been reliable enough and will likely be kept until it is BER. (If you squint you can see the Mrs digging the SX out of a snowdrift in the background of the pic!)
EDIT: From the UK I had a long line of various Ford's (I got a new management roll car every 7 months!), Two Discoveries and a Trooper (when I had a boat to tow) and finally a Volvo S60 (because I am turning into my father.).

We live in a very snowy bit of Ontario. What I do when there's a lot of snow about is to put the top up.

See Iaink's post he lives in Ontario.
Likewise dbd33 and Souvenir lives just across the border in Quebec.

To be fair Souvenir (note spelling) doesn't drive himself so is not subject to all the male stuff associated with cars and car purchasing. I mean, the man probably doens't even watch Top Gear! He also lives in an area served by public transport (now that OC Transpo are back at work.) Mr K has a Subaru so does at least recognise the benefit of 4wd.

last car in the UK was a Citroen Xsara Picasso. Here the main workhorse is a Honda Odyssey. For such a big vehicle it's surprisingly fuel efficient - helped by the funky Honda i-VTEC thingy that shuts off three of the six cylinders when not under load. It, too, has heated leather seats (lovely, but I'm not sure I'd have paid the extra if they weren't part of the only available option pack to secure both a sunroof and the engine management technology...).
For summer motoring, look over there at my avatar <===. 1985 Morgan 4/4 4-seater. Not by any stretch of the imagination an all-season vehicle in Ontario.

When we first came our the Escape was the all-round move the family utility vehicle, we then got a ford focus which is way better in all respects as commuter car in anything except very deep snow (its way more fun on snow with snow tires than any SUV/truck I’ve driven) the latest addition is our Original Mini imported last year
The UK last time was a Mondeo and the mini
The first time in Canada was a Toyota Celica (with snow tires) which was great fun which was driven to from Nova Scotia one year and driven the next to Alaska and back

Apologies to Souvenir.
I saw an episode of Top Gear a short while ago, what a waste of air time. Is this more of that superior British TV?
I take note of Mrs K's Subaru, not exactly a big beast though is it.

When I came here on a reccie - I was absolutely gobsmacked by the size of the trucks, couldn't figure how anyone found any of these cars attractive, and the old muscle / redneck methods of transport - well - left a lot to be desired. Then you get used to your nre home and all of a sudden the transport makes sense.
So carrying on from Caz's thread about what car should she get - i wanna see what we all drive now and what did we used to drive in the UK
(and i want a chance to show off the beast hahahahaha)
It may seem big and brash but shes a Chev 3/4 Duramax and perfect for living out here in the middle of nowhere.
In the UK I had a Volvo 480 (don't laugh I loved that car!) and the common denominator between both???
Heated leather seats and kick ass stereos!!!!!!!
