The secret policeman moves to Canada

Maybe if you think the job is done by officers who are violent you should have a go yourself - join up and see how long you stick it for. When yr called to arrest some scumbag who has just beaten up some old lady and then he or she turns on you maybe you will calmly ask him/her not to be so violent!! and then ask him/her to follow you to the station. Wonder what you would do if it were you ??
The majority of police officers love the job, they really think they do make a difference, and they do...... shame there are some folk who try and bad mouth them - and try and make out they are in the wrong.
Maybe i have misunderstood yr post - but sounds like you think the police are all violent - if you dont really know what they put up with, which would also indicate you dont really know how they react perhaps you should have a few shifts with them and see what you need to do to simply arrest somebody.
Does the word 'self defence' mean anything or is that violent as well?

You can get the same types of results if you substitute Canada for UK in your search.

I was never claiming that police brutality was specific to the UK. It's an international problem as far as I can see. I was just making the point that unnecessary violence is commonly employed by the filth.

So obviously you have a problem with the UK police force or is it police forces in general?

I've never really had much involvement with them. Obviously they serve an important purpose, but they don't always go about it in the right way; i.e. they are often racist and overly violent.

yep interesting reading - not always the whole story, not often showing what the officers have had done to them.
still, i stand by what i said - sometimes officers have to restrain those who are doing the attacking and if people really think this is violence they should try the job for themselves, be punched, kicked and attacked and then let the police know how you can restrain/arrest a violent person in a gentle and kind way..... that would be interesting to see.
Still, we are all entitled to our own views and as a non violent person i accept you are fully entitled t yours.

Most cops are good cops and most love the job and do the job for the right reasons
However it also makes a great home for bigots and bullies and the police federation protects them just as well as it does it’s more righteous officers
Its doesn’t take many incidents for the public to get the wrong idea, and for the rot to spread, my own experience is that in the bar at HQ (Sherwood lodge), the bigots and the bullies were the most vocal and most damming about how they are treated by the public and who was to blame, and very few chose to challenge the diatribe too
Its this self supporting, internal investigation type environment that allows the public to make a minor issue into a big problem, and the nature of the job means that many policemen isolate them selves from the public and create a ‘them and us’ culture that reinforces the level of suspicion
Plus whist ever the senior police officers still remain members of organizations such as the freemasons there will always be a degree of mistrust by the public

No force is perfect I think we can all attest to that, but if you have very little to do with them how can you justify your attitude?

Food for thought - by stating that the police are filth - is that not racist in its own right?

"The filth" is a common piece of British slang. I haven't had much to do with arms dealers or paedophiles; am I not allowed to denounce them either?

And i agree - there are good and bad people in all walks of life - but, on the whole the officers do a good job - and when there is trouble they are the first to be called....... even the trouble makers call 999 and ask for help when they are turned on by another trouble maker, so all in all - love them or hate them - when there is a violent situation, or even a small cat stuck up a tree or a pile up with the loss of life - we all call 999 and expect them to deal with it.
