Just watching the Rangers game - what a really dire display of football , not sure if Rangers are bad or just cant play against Hamiltons 'anti-football'

United were 3-0 up against Aberdeen after 8 minutes.

The Dons are putting a good game back tho', it's 3-1 now. But it's always good to see McGoo with steam coming oot his ears.

Yes they are (Bad)...as is the quality of the Scottish Premiership. Utter pish!

Being a Rangers fan man & boy, I can no longer bear to watch such unadulterated pish when 'Setanta' gets desperate enough to show it....I just feel soooooo sorry for those left in 'ALBA' who are treated to such an exquisite load of old rubbish of a Saturday....'Scotsport' must be considered 'cruel & unusual punishment' these days...

Good result for the 'tic, but I'm not sure I agree with your suggestion that it's a good night for Scottish football.

Apart from Celtic and Rangers, not a single club in Scottish football has 2 pennies to rub together. One could argue that Rangers don't either, but I'm sure most clubs would offer to swap places with Rangers.

Celtic spent at least 5-6 million, while at Dundee United (3rd place in SPL and Scottish Cup Winners) they had to release 3 first-team squad players to be able to free up a wage of around 1,500 a week for Scott Severin.

The disparity between top and bottom in Scottish football has never been greater (in fact, top two and third, never mind the rest), and it's growing all the time. Walter Smith is complaining about the exact same disparity when it comes to Rangers competing against Europe's finest, while at the same time he completely refuses to acknowledge that this is what's contributing to the dire lack of competition for the Old Firm within Scotland.

If you're an Old Firm supporter, would you prefer thumping diddy teams 6-0 (or 12-0 as you suggest was possible!), week-in, week-out, or would you prefer a healthy and competitive league which might better prepare you for European games?

Anyway, well done for the result tonight. Roll on 17th October when you visit Tannadice...

Agree with everything you say I'd much rather have a strong utd,Aberdeen and hibs...I'd happily take hertz being rotten, I was expecting a tough game tonight but it was a joy to watch.

Think the issue goes back to supply of young talent , someone made the point last week that in the 60s 70s early 80s Scotland was riding high in world and European football because nearly evey kid kicked a ball about every spare second the had...what a talent pool to choose from

now it's pretty scary watching the neds kicking each other rather than a ball, but things look to be getting better there's a new all weathe pitch near me and it's full of young kids playin all hours of the day it's just keeping them away from computers and buckfast when they hit mid teens!

I get back from Canada 10am that morning and I'm driving straight to tannadice for the game ...mon the hoops!

The best way to do that, in the long term, is to increase the SPL to 18 teams.

That way, each club plays each other twice - 34 games total - and the financial boost of playing an Old Firm team is spread around to 17 clubs.

With less fear of immediate relegation, many 'mid-table' clubs may be a bit keener to make financial commitments that would be suicidal if they were relegated.

The number of games "likely to win" for each club goes up, as there are two less away OF games to play, and 6 new teams from the First Division to play against - hence the points gap in the top half of the table gets closer. The competition at the bottom would be just as fierce as it is just now, to stay in the SPL.

There's no doubt this would make for a healthier, more competitive league, but unless the TV money division is seriously reallocated away from the OF, unfortunately no SPL chairman is going to vote to losing 2 visits from the OF each season.

Oh wait - that would mean applying common sense and voting for short term pain for long term gain. Silly me.

PS - I agree with you - I don't care if Hertz stay shite forever!

Even increasing it to 18 wouldnt help Dundee - Sommit very strange going on at Dens this year

That bloody Ross County link stopped after 90 minutes so I missed the extra time - The guy streaming must have had it set on a timer

NLDFC, what's going on with your club!!

In danger of going out of business and beaten by Cowdenbeath! To be fair going to central park mirrors the surroundings of a very dodgy eastern european village but only more run down and with stranger people.

Something rotten at the core there - The 2 fans reps on the board of directors to make sure this crap didnt happen again should be ashamed of themselves

I would quite happily go into admin and start again in the 3rd division - Sack the Board , Management and every single player for being incapable of doing their jobs - Replace the whole lot of them with players that want to play for the jersey and start the whole lot again

Administration looking very likely on Wednesday - I would say the SFL will come down very hard on Dundee seeing as this will be the 2nd time in 7 year (Some people never learn )
