Hah! Inelastic demand. I like that. Describes my other half exactly.

Some of the beers I've been into lately are in the $8 to $13 region per 650ml (21oz). But, that's just the price they are, and I'm still going to drink them.

Are you planning on swimming there, or have you factored in the cost of a return flight into your beer oz/$ calculation?

Technically the beer in London is free to me as it, and the flight are paid for by my employer. The beer in St John's I have to pay for myself.;)

I'm a bit wary of the 8% faxe- from the country that brought us special brew.

Holsten has two 7% bocks, maibock and festbock, and I always struggle to remember which is nice and which horrid.

I thought it was the other one, but since I can never remember, I don't buy either one.

I quite like DAB. A quid a can isn't disastrously bad.

There's a saying in German:

Bier nach Wein,
Alles Fein.
Wein nach Bier,
Ich rate Dir.

Beer after wine,
that'll be fine.
Wine after beer,
BAD idea.

When you start messing with 8% brews the distinction disappears.
