Is it too soon to be worrying about who is bringing what to the housewarming party? I was thinking of bringing some virtual pork pies.

A virtual tour followed by virtual drinks and snacks on the balcony perhaps! :D

God damn, what a crazy 12 minute video.

Soft White Underbelly video and portraits of The Whitakers, an inbred family from Odd, West Virginia.

Pretty sizable fire on a US Navy ship in San Diego, USS BONHOMME RICHARD, reports their was an explosion prior to the fire. Looking at some live feed, appears to still be on fire.

9 bed/9 bath single family home on 9 acres, can be yours for a cool 21.9 million.

https://www.mikestewart.ca/property/.../R2474848/279/

Wonderful use of agriculture land and because its on ALR the property tax is only 16,000/yr currently.

The province has since changed the laws so these mega mansions can no longer be built on ALR.

Vancouver Sun article.

Personally if I had 22 million to spend on a house, I'd choose this more modest home in San Diego.

Agreed. What goes through people's minds building a folly like that. Money laundering perhaps? Definitely prefer the La Jolla pad. Location, location, location !

I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of money laundering element took place at some point with these large houses.

A few examples of what 10- 20 million can get you elsewhere in the region.

In 1983 Nelson Skalbania went broke, and he owed a lot of rich people money, and they all chipped in and raised $1M for him to try to make it back. I'm not sure how that worked out. I was staying at my aunt's house in Kits then and getting around on a $2 yard sale bike. I rode it past Skalbania's house on Marine Drive one day and remember thinking "I'm not sure a million dollars would pay the taxes on that."
