Someone just posted on an NB website:-

I am having nightmares of getting a killer hornet trapped in my face mask whilst shoveling snow during Covid in mid May!

nicely put

Rather horrid thing, an NB wildlife site had posted last week that a couple of people had found little hummingbirds dead in their gardens, because they had returned and no flowers were out. So I rushed and got the feeder out, in the hope to help...poor pretty little things they aren't having a good day today

If I ever wont the lotto and could afford a house, I would custom build one in a way that makes life easier, higher counter tops for example, higher shower head, dishwasher designed so its higher up etc.

Typical kitchen set up is just not good for tall people, at all.

My mom's brother did this with his house, and his kitchen is perfect for tall people.

I do think dedicated rental units like ours might be lower than normal as well to accommodate those in wheelchairs better, everything is perfect level if your sitting in a chair. An attempt at a one size fits all design.

Always found in odd how in residential condos/apartments with dishwasher and washer inside the unit there are no floor drains anywhere, or even in the bathroom.

Dishwasher or toilet or washing machine breaks or leaks the water just goes everywhere and floods lower units.

Seems floor drains and slightly slanted floors to direct water towards the drain would help prevent flooding downstairs neighbors.

No flood here, just something I was thinking about as any hotel I have worked at that wasn't old and built in the last 10-15 years all had floor drains in the bathroom and slightly slanted floors towards the drain so water would flow towards the drain.

Never thought about it before because drains in the floor freak me out a little...no idea why. Great idea J a discreet drain under the washer and dishwasher, and in the bathroom floor would prevent leaks damaging properties below. The house we are in at the moment is on 4 floors. The laundry room is on the 3rd floor. The drain pipe from the washer came loose and damaged quite a lot of the wooden flooring, whilst the sale was going through. Needless to say it all had to be replaced before we took ownership.

This. I also couldn’t have a house with a sump pump. I find them creepy.

yeah...we had one in the basement of our NJ house. I always imagine ‘things’ emerging from drains in the floor.
