Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Is there a thread about how long PR card renewal is taking at the moment? Or one about how I can become the sort of person who doesn’t leave these things until I have to stress about how long it’s going to take?? |

For what it's worth every time I have renewed my PR card, I have gotten it back within the processing time posted on their website, almost to the day. I always found the website to be fairly accurate in the processing time for my renewals.
Never seen processing time so low as it is now, today says 14 days. |

Thank you. Slightly worrying that we haven’t had an email acknowledging receipt. What's off-putting is that the site allows one to check progress, but unless something has changed, any action is only recorded once they start processing it. So you can't check if it's been received - other than sending it recorded/registered but that doesn't show it's where it should actually be. What I have found is, say it says it takes four weeks...it arrives and sits in a pile waiting to be processed. Then when it comes your application's turn, it gets recorded as processing has started. But within a day or so it's finished and you get it within 5 days of processing beginning. So for four weeks after sending it you check the site every few days to find nothing there except that "reassuring" note that activity is only shown once they start processing. You get fed up checking that often and then it arrives. Maybe you just happen to check round about the time it's actually done and you can see it's done. And then you get it "tomorrow" because it was actually done 3 days ago but only just had the system updated. :( The check progress facility is pretty useless in this respect. But so long as you sent it recorded/registered and you know it's been signed for I wouldn't worry if it's still within anticipated processing time. |

Old ad posted on reddit for apartments in 1979 in the west end. I find old ads with prices interesting, rents have certainly climbed far faster then inflation.
https://imgur.com/a/UDv7LYh 1 bedroom $185 to $225 using bank of Canada inflation calculator that today is $631 to $768 (min wage in 1979 was $3.00 per hour from what I could find on stats Canada.) https://www.reddit.com/r/vancouver/c...t_end_1979_ad/ |

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Had a doctors appointment Friday afternoon, it was at 30 minutes past the hour. I get there and the place is empty nobody waiting, I check in, wait about 5 minutes then called to go to the little room, normally the doctor comes in pretty quick, but I sit and sit and sit, finally look at the phone on the wall and its been 35 minutes, so I decide to go look for somebody......they forgot I was there...and the person who takes people back to the room didn't turn the light on above the door indicating a patient was waiting.
Guess it was Friday and everyone was thinking about the weekend. Also Amazon, been having more and more orders come from the US, ordered on Amazon ca but actually coming from US fulfillment centers from what I can tell with the tracking. Order on its way for Monday, tracking shows it in WA state at the moment, about 40% of my orders this year are like this. Makes no difference to me, just something I have been noticing happening more often. Saturday, 24 August 5:11 PM Package arrived at an Amazon facility, Kent, WASHINGTON US Friday, 23 August,Package has shipped. I just noticed they take photos now when they leave the parcel outside my door to show they left it. Almost all my orders are being delivered now my Amazon's own delivery people now as well, far better vs when it was Purolator or Canada Post. |
